We have the infant Orbit system and we wanted an additional sleek looking stroller. Our baby likes to "hang out" in the house in the stroller and the Orbit was just too tight and uncomfortable. In one of our trips to London we found the Urbo at Mamas and Papas and loved the sleek silver, industrial look of the Urbo. The big plus about the Urbo was that we could totally decline the seat 180 degree, so this meant that our baby could take naps inthe Urbo. We didn't buy the stroller back in March in London [...] We haven't done too much research on strollers so we thought that we could find onein the USA that could also recline 180 degree. Upon our return back to the states we didn't find any other strollers that could recline 180.Even the expensive ones like Bugaboo. We ended up ordering the Urbo by Mamas and Papa's customer service from the UK, and wehad to go through a lot to get the Urbo from the UK. I believe we even ended up paying almost $600[...] If I knew that the Urbo was going to be in the USA, I would have waited and saved money! The Pros:-Reclines 180 Degree-Sleek Design, very contemporary.-Comfortable and wide seat.-Well made-Good padding-Nice gray cotton chambray interior lining-Great hood extension. Hood covers a lot, even under L.A sunshine.-Seat can be moved to forward/backward facing position. The Cons:-Not as light as they say (the Orbit is much lighter). It does feel heavy for my 5'2" frame.-Not enough storage space-Bad Suspension. We went up and down the streets and tubes in London with the Urbo, and it didn't have a lot of suspension. It also got very heavy. The Orbit was much better for street surfaces (lighter and better suspension). If you are going to be taking strolls in smooth flat surfaces, then this is good choice. If you live in a city, or plan to go "off roads" then, this is not the best choice. They advertise this stroller for city life, but personally I don't think that this a good "city stroller".-The three back rest reclining position don't latch in place. You can't hear a "click" or anything that tells you that you have properly reclined the seat into the proper level. I have to resort to pushing the seat forward and backwards to make sure that the reclined position is latched on correctly.-No cap holder.Sometimes I regret buying the Urbo, and I feel that I should have gotten the Bugaboo because it looks like it has better suspension and better storage space. At the end the only reason that I don't regret getting the Urbo is the 180 recline option, and it feels more "exclusive" that not so many parents have this stroller yet!

I had previously reviewed the Urbo stroller and gave it a 4 star. I don't know how to go back and do a review update so I am putting a new review for 2 stars.

My son is almost 14 month now and I am buying another lighter weight stroller.

I bought my Urbo directly through Mamas and Papas in London because I couldn't resist that this stroller looked so cool and no one at that time had in the States. At that time we already had the Orbit infant system, which we loved, but for our baby to nap in the Orbit was just too tight. What I loved about the Urbo back then was that you can totally recline the seat to 180, and it has was wide seat, has a great sunshade, and it is so chic.

I have read other reviews from New York parents, and how they loved the stroller, and thought that this was very "light weight". I lived in New York City for several years, and I don't know why anyone would say this about the Urbo. I am 5'2" and 130 lbs. I find it very heavy to lift the stroller and fit in the back of my Toyota Sienna mini van. I live in Los Angeles, so we spend a lot of time in and out of our cars. The Urbo is not easy to fold, you need two hands. When it folds, it takes a lot of space in my Toyota Sienna mini van. It's not a fast fold either. I wanted a light weight stroller that would be easy and fast to fold while holding my son, so I ended researching a lot for another option. I was back in London in a business trip, so I looked at other Mamas & Papas, Maclaren and even Bugaboo strollers, and non of them convinced me. I ended up buying online the Chicco's Light Weight Stroller in Fuego.

I must say that I am a "Stroller" snob. I am a designer so at the beginning when I purchased the Urbo what attracted me was the contemporary stylish design. The material is very good too. It's made in a heavier nylon with gray chambray liners. My thinking when I became a new mom was all about looking good and having baby look cool! Now that I have 14 months experience under my belt, function is first, then form is later.

Being a designer I haven't yet found a nice looking stroller that is light weight, easy to fold, has plenty of basket space, has good quality materials, has a cup holder and is reasonably priced. For now I am OK with the Chicco. Even if the Urbo is much cooler and better made, I need to put my Urbo away for occasions when I am traveling with my husband. He can fold and put the stroller away while I deal with the baby. For occasions when I am traveling alone with baby, then the Chicco umbrella stroller is my choice. Not a fashionable choice, but it is a practical choice.

Hope this helps anyone thinking about buying this stroller.

Faulty Front Wheel Switches

By Spencer

from New York

Comments about Mamas and Papas Mamas & Papas Urbo Stroller - Black:

Very disappointed in the front wheel switches that allow the wheels to swivel. Both switches have broken in just 7 months. We did not even use the feature these switches offer which is locking the wheels so they do not swivel. A nice feature if you want to roll your baby back and forth while they sleep. BUT a real pain when the switch breaks and the wheels won't turn during a walk.

Comments about Mamas and Papas Mamas & Papas Urbo Stroller - Black:

My husband picked out the Urbo and it's been great. Easy to store, maneuver, lightweight... and it worked well with our Graco car seat attachment when our baby was a NB. Now that our baby is 9 months old it's still been perfect for her and our outings. We really like how it gives you the option on the positions of the seat (facing out or facing towards you). It doesn't have much room underneath for storage so we use the momma hooks which have worked well for us.

Comments about Mamas and Papas Mamas & Papas Urbo Stroller - Black:

I've owned the Urban stroller in black for 9 months now and have had NO problems with it. The seat is very comfortable, it rides smoothly, it's easy to use, yes the basket is small but the diaper bag fits perfectly and you can always buy stroller accessories like cup holders and hooks. I also bought the carseat attachment and used a Graco infant carseat, and as far as I know you can use a Graco carseat or Mamas & Papas carseat, not sure if that has changed since I purchased it. It's probably not a practicle stroller, but it's a good looking stroller. It works for us, might not work for you. We love it!!

Comments about Mamas and Papas Mamas & Papas Urbo Stroller - Black:

This stroller is very cute and stylish but it is not convenient for those who live in the city! The basket is extremely small and unhooks all of the time, i have to always stop and snap it back on. It has no cup holders and no tray for the baby to put his snacks. It is super heavy and hard to hold so taking the subway or the bus is a mission. The wheels are small and tend to get stuck on cracks on the sidewalk. The reclining seat I really like its great for when baby falls asleep and i like the front facing- rear facing feature, i can always have my eyes on him.

Comments about Mamas and Papas Mamas & Papas Urbo Stroller - Black:

In short:
I love the stroller and look forward to pushing it every day. I like it much better than our first stroller (Baby Jogger City Mini).
Some details:
- I got the floor model on clearance, and it had a couple of defects (locking front wheels and the seat that would occasionally drop into reclined position). I contacted the manufacturer and was sent the replacement parts immediately. FYI, there is an easy DIY fix for the very annoying problem locking front wheels (insert thin plastic ties into the holes to fixate locking switches in unlocked position).
- The maneuverability is amazing. I look forward to pushing it every day, and so does my husband.
- Love the quality of materials: solid metal chassis, nice fabric on the seat, leather-like handlebar and grab bar.
- I bought it because I felt my 9 month-old son was much more comfortable in Urbo than in our Baby Jogger City Mini. The reason: firm, fully-reclining seat with adjustable foot rest. The baby has a better posture in this than in BJCM.
- Nice canopy with much coverage and a window, but baby might get hot in summer without ventillation.
- The basket is smallish but it's not an issue for me (I hook the diaper bag to the handlebar).
- No cup holder, but I keep water bottle in the diaper bag.
- Compact fold, stands upright when folded.
- Tight suspension and solid wheels make for a bumpy ride. My son does not mind it though.

Comments about Mamas and Papas Mamas & Papas Urbo Stroller - Black:

We saw this stroller in a store and my husband fell in love with it. I wasn't thrilled about the price, but when I tried it for myself I understood what you're paying for. I have back problems, but this stroller was pretty lightweight and easy to fold (though you need both hands). Its best feature is probably maneuverability (the wheels could be set to go in a straight line or rotate in any direction). Also, it reclines completely and the hood covers almost the whole baby in any position of the seat. We pretty much figured out how to use every feature of the stroller right there in a store. The biggest minus is that when you take it to our streets the ride gets very bumpy. Because of small wheels and no cushion, the stroller doesn't go over cracks and bumps and all of that is felt by the baby. Also, NO CUP HOLDER! Really, the company has to take care of that. Overall, as a product - the stroller is great, might not be the best for busy New York streets, but definitely does the job.
