Product Description

Kids love to chat on the phone and this classic, roll-along pull-toy with a friendly face, and eyes that move up and down when the toy is pulled along makes it even more fun!

Since 1930, Fisher-Price has been in business to create toys that fascinate and stimulate a child's imagination. Fisher-Price was founded in 1930, hardly the best time to launch a new business as the shadows of the Depression still loomed over American business. Still, Herman Fisher, Irving Price and Helen Schelle combined their diverse manufacturing and retailing experience to create a toy company and confidently brought 16 wooden toys to the International Toy Fair in New York City. The whimsical nature and magical surprises of those first Fisher-Price toys quickly caught on and became the hallmarks of Fisher-Price ever since. Fisher-Price believes in the potential of children and in the importance of a supportive environment in which they can grow, learn, and get the best possible start in life. Fisher-Price supports today's families with young children through our breadth of products that includes GeoTrax, Imaginext, Little People, Laugh and Learn, Thomas the Tank, Thomas and Friends, Elmo, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Sesame Street, Smart Cycle, Ni Hao Kai-Lan, Toy Story and other learning toys and pretend play items.

Features

  • See how the fun develops
  • Social Skills Encourages speech as they talk into the phone by imitating words and phrases they've heard
  • Imaginative Skills Early role play as they pretend to talk
  • Classic pull toy with a friendly face
  • Eyes that move up and down when the toy is pulled along

I understand the possible frustrations about the short cord. But face it: anything longer is considered a strangulation hazard and in today's world full of law-suits no manufacturer is going to make anything with a longer cord and sell it for little children). Both of my daughters enjoyed this phone VERY much. We have several toys which have strings to be pulled around but this phone and FP's puppy toy (also a great basic/classic toy) were always their favorite. They often talked with the phone on the table in front of them, me holding the phone in front of them while playing together, when they got older they pretended to chat with friends while laying on the carpet on their tummies... they didn't seem to mind that short cord at all. I appreciated that the toy was not noisy, was very economical, didn't need any batteries, was a lot of fun for several years,

Maybe I'm imagining what mine did, but it's been over 30 years. I remember T&C he eyes moved when it was dragged. It seems like a cheapened version of the original. I was going to let my 10 mo. old have it, but it has a really long string that he wants to eat and there's no way to temporarily hide it or remove it. My husband pointed out that he'll have no idea what it is either. Telephones don't look like this any more. This is a toy for parents.

This is a classic toy that has evolved a little bit over the years. Even though we're in the era of cell technology this toy is still worth the purchase. I bought if for my little granddaughter who is almost 9 months old. Her favorite part is the red string that you use to pull it (ha ha!)...but she has fun dialing the dial and listening to it chime. It will be fun to see her pull it as she becomes more mobile and walks. The only drawback and I'm sure it's for safety, so really shouldn't be considered a drawback is that the cord from the phone to the receiver is extremely short. Too bad there wasn't another way to make it safe and have a longer cord that could somehow break away and not present a strangulation possibility. It's still a cute toy and worth the purchase.
