I'm not usually a massive fan of Super Heroes, but when I saw this set and the details in it, I knew I had to have it. The last big building I had bought was the Haunted House and I really enjoyed building it, so I thought this set would be a great addition to my buildings collection. The building took me about six or seven hours over two days to build and the build is challenging yet enjoyable. Not much in the way of anything fiddly, the main gate is probably the fiddliest to construct. Right, the minifigures. You get eight: Batman, Robin, The Joker, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, The Penguin, Dr. Harleen Quinzel and a security guard. Batman: He's a standard black, and comes with a bat wing attachment instead of a cape and comes with Batarang accessories. Nothing too unique to this set. Robin: He has a unique outfit for this set, which is good. He comes with a small cape and a staff accessory, and has a double-printed head to change his expression. The Joker: Just for this set, he comes in his 'prisoner' outfit, and has a double-printed head to change his expression. A nice minifigure. Scarecrow: Another character which I think is unique to this set. He has a detailed head and torso, but plain brown legs. Poison Ivy: This character also appears in the Batcave set. She has a double-printed head with different expressions, a detailed hairpiece decorated with ivy and detailed torso and legs. The Penguin: He comes with his umbrella and fish accessories, and has a detailed torso. His head is only printed on one side, but with good reason. Dr. Harleen Quinzel: Truly a character with double personality! One face is her 'work' face, but you can remove her hair, turn her head around and put the jester hat on her and turn her into the villain Harley Quinn. She has an area in the building where you can store her jester hat when she's not being a villain, a nice feature. Her detailed torso also suggests her double personality. A very good unique minifigure. Security Guard: Nothing too special, just a standard security guard, but is unique to this set. Perhaps this set could have done with two security guards? The van: Perhaps a bit small, but it works. The front and back doors do open, but I found the back doors a little tricky to open. If you have this problem, let me suggest using the included brick separator (they're very versatile, aren't they?) to lever open the back doors. The roof of the front cabin is removable for you to put a minifigure in the driver's seat. The van only has one seat in the front. The back can hold a neat-looking stretcher with a minifigure in it and it simply slides in and out. Beware, though: the van won't fit minifigures like Scarecrow or The Penguin in the back. The gates: Like the rest of the set, it has wonderful gothic detailing. The opening gates themselves are interesting to put together and wonderful to look at. I particularly like the two statues either side of the gates, constructed with minifigure torsos and wings, the same wings you can also see on the Chima Raven minifigures. The use of spears as railings on the sides of the gates are good. The gate also features a security camera, simple yet effective. The gates are great, but are a bit flimsy especially when you move them, e.g. to put them away. Now the building itself. The attention to detail is absolutely amazing, everything from the walls to the gargoyles to the plant material growing on the walls. The windows are fiddly to construct but they absolutely do work, so it's worth it. The main entrance doors: Lego could have easily just used a door mould for this, but I'm glad they didn't! There's a certain quality to the main doors and look amazingly good. Now the interior. There's eight rooms spread throughout three levels. Four of the rooms are cells and are generally all found on the same side of the building. One cell is for The Joker, one for Scarecrow (both on ground floor), one for Poison Ivy (the cleverly designed transparent cell on the first floor) and one for Mr. Freeze (the only room on the third floor, the top of the tallest tower). The set could have also come with Mr. Freeze himself if there's a cell for him! Apart from cells, there's also the security reception (first room beyond the main doors) with phone and a desk, a treatment room with a work table and a bed, Harleen's office and her changing room below that. The changing room is cleverly disguised, which I suppose is necessary! There's wonderful exterior and interior detailing in this set, and for that I give top marks. But with regards to size, it's big, no denying that, but it's a bit flat in depth. The building could have done with a set of stairs leading to each floor and perhaos extra roof elements. Apart from that, it's an amazing building. Overall, I absolutely recommend this set to not only Batman fans, but general Lego fans looking for a building with amazing detail and that is enjoyable to build. Yes, it's expensive, but when you buy it you won't regret it!

The Arkham Asylum is a must have for any Lego city. It is one of the few sets with a unique victorian design. However, I shall first discuss the minifigures. I am very disappointed that this set didn't include Two-face or Mr. Freeze. There was even a room for Mr. Freeze, but no Mr. Freeze minifigure. It is also very challenging to place the Batman minifigure anywhere inside the Asylum due to his long wingspan that takes up too much space. I wish that he had just an ordinary black cape in this set. I also don't understand why Robin has a smaller sized cape than the to scale sized cape as he usually has. I am not too satisfied with the inside of the Asylum either. It is too crowded and there isn't enough space to consider it a play set and there is only two small jail cells. So I clearly do not like the inside, but I do like the outside of the Asylum. It's menacing, but not too menacing. Although the Arkham Asylum has its flaws, your Lego city needs this set!

Arkham Asylum: The Ultimate Batman Lego Set

from Galway

Comments about LEGO Super Heroes Batman Arkham (10937):

The Set: Everything about this set works brilliantly. The van, the gates, and the Asylum itself are all highly detailed. The Guardians that stand on either side of the gate are a great addition, mirrored by the gargoyles on the building itself. This gothic look adds a spooky touch to the set, which I really enjoyed. Each section of the building looks amazing, particularly the examination room and Poison Ivy's cell. The broken glass in one of the windows is a terrific addition, and the stain glass on the top floor adds some nice colour. The Build: It's a very fun build, and as each room reaches completion, the satisfaction of seeing the asylum take shape is great. The Minifigs: All of the minifigs are brilliantly designed, particularly the Joker who is wearing an orange jumpsuit and comes with a Hannibal Lecter-like containment unit. The printing on each fig is brilliant too. Overall, this is one of my favourite sets. It's the first big build I've completed since rediscovering Lego last year. I loved every minute of it!

Awesome Arkham Asylum

By ShatterSoldier

from Garden Grove

Comments about LEGO Super Heroes Batman Arkham (10937):

I was so glad when the Batman Lego theme returned in 2012, and ever since, I'd been hoping the Arkham Asylum set would be redesigned. The original was decent enough, with Scarecrow, Poison Ivy and Riddler as villains and Nightwing, Batman and two guards to fight criminals. This newer version, however, is even better! Minifigures: Scarecrow: Probably my favorite character in this whole set. The front and back of his mask/face are nicely detailed. I sort of wished he had actually been designed more like the Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Scarecrow from Batman Begins, with an actual mask piece that slipped over his face, instead of the same old witch/wizard hat, but it looks better in this new dark brown hue, rather than the old, plain black. Definitely a top-notch minifig. Joker: It's great to see Lego giving the Joker his "jail-cell" outfit, instead of the purple suit again. Still kinda want a different hair-piece for him, though. Robin/Nightwing/Red Robin?: Much cooler than I thought he would be; The bo staff, small cape and hood, and all-black pants make Robin look much more stealthy. Policeman/Guard: I know some people would like policeman in their DC sets to help the superheroes out, but I don't think they're necessary. I would've been much happier if Lego had replaced this guard with another Arkham Asylum inmate, like Hush or a new Two-Face... Even a random, unnamed inmate, or perhaps a Joker henchman. Penguin: Pretty neat design all around. The lighter purple short legs are a good rare piece, and the fish accessory is just great. Poison Ivy: I already had a Poison Ivy minifigure before getting Arkham, so I wasn't thrilled to get her again, but she's not a bad minifigure. I think the hair-piece is well done, but the face design isn't too appealing. Batman: I prefer the standard cloth cape to this non-flexible, pretty boring-looking wing piece for Batman; It doesn't cover much of his neck either, so you can see the flesh tone of his head, which bugs me. They fixed the problem of Batman's mask going too far down and not lining up with the white band on his head (At least the one I received did). Harleen Quinzel: I actually like this half-nurse, half-Harley Quinn minifig better than the complete costume, especially since it includes the blonde ponytail, a piece I've not seen anywhere else. Arkham Asylum Van/Wagon: Fairly compact and smooth design. I'm surprised how big it is on the inside (It's not enormous or anything, but much more so than I initially presumed). I don't mind stickers, big or small, in Lego sets, but be warned the truck has some, as does the actual Arkham building. I do have a problem with the stretcher/containment unit intended for the Joker, though; the cage made up of bar pieces and "droid arms" would be extremely frustrating for a younger builder to stick together, and one of the segments on mine BROKE when I tried to attach it with a minifigure inside. So, I would either suggest avoiding opening/closing the cage all the time, or just take the two middle "droid arms" out of the build: You can still close the sides over a minifig. Arkham Asylum Gate/Entrance: I like the twin ghoul/wraith--like statues, and the pikes and keys they each hold are cool pieces to own. I wish the fence had been a few segments longer, but oh well. The security camera is a fun addition. Ah yes, and those lanterns... They look REALLY cool, but they are a PAIN to construct. The brown, hollow tube bricks that hold the whole lantern together are nearly too thick to fit through the trans-yellow cylinder. I almost bent one trying to get it to fit; It's THAT hard to push them in place! Arkham Asylum: A superb piece of Lego architecture! The front door is very neat indeed, with the smooth light brown plates, and another security camera mounted on a wall. The lobby has a pretty awesome desk were you could seat the guard, or Harleen Quinzel at; There's a video monitor, a big red button and a clear coffee mug on top of it. Two the left, there are duel jail cells with a sliding/locking function. The cells are meant for Joker and Scarecrow, but you can detach the prisoners' profile plates for the bars and switch them out with the other villain bios on the right side of the asylum, such as Mr. Freeze's, Poison Ivy's, Two-Face's, and Penguin's. You can turn the villain bio wall 180 degrees to reveal a secret Harley Quinn lair, with her jester cap and a mirror. Just beside all this is an iconic red BATPHONE! I think this is really clever and a great nod to classic Batman. Upstairs, you have another nicely constructed desk, with a swiveling office chair. Then there's a chemistry lab in the middle, where I normally station Scarecrow. There's a computer monitor, vial of green liquid, two other jars of unknown substances, and some weird hinged-drawer thing underneath the work table..? All the way on the left is Poison Ivy's containment unit, with vines growing through the bars, and a potted plant in the corner. The window is shattered, so you can pretend to have the villains escape (Not sure why the bendable rope piece is WHITE; It would be better in boring black, or a dark brown). And at the very top of the tower, there's a cell that appears to be designed to hold Mr. Freeze (Even though he's not in the set; Just his villain bio downstairs). Where Arkham Asylum really shines is the outside design, however! I like the roof, with the short railings and gargoyles (Who have dark grey frogs for heads, and axe-blades for wings). Best of all, you can hide Batman amongst the dark spires, or have Robin run across the slanted shingles of the roof, thanks to the studs sticking out, allowing you to attach minifigure feet. I love the windows, and the whole thing is just sturdy and well-balanced. Not one piece has fallen off or started to disconnect while transporting it, or setting up action scenes. If you're a DC Superhero fan... Even if you're just a Lego fan... Get this set. It's got a decent amount of fun minifigures, challenging, clever building techniques, and although I mostly just like to present/showcase my Arkham Asylum set, a smaller child would have hours of fun playing with Batman, and having him save the day. Lego recently marked down the price on this set. It's still quite a bit of cash, but I think in the long run, it will be worth it.

Comments about LEGO Super Heroes Batman Arkham (10937):

I got this for my 8 year old son, who is a big Lego Batman/DC Comics fan and although this set was rated for ages 12+, he really wanted it and was able to build it himself with very little help from an adult. Great set for the holidays and is really very very detailed and a beautiful build!!!

The crowning jewel in the Super Heroes Line

By Killerbee

from Pickering

Comments about LEGO Super Heroes Batman Arkham (10937):

When Batman made his return to the Lego universe, most people were looking for an outstanding set of either Arkham Asylum or the Bat Cave. While the Bat Cave seemed to be more directed to a younger audience, the Arkham Asylum was what I would have wanted. It's on a fairly nice scale with the creator modular buildings and has some great use of design pieces.. The broker glass, the jail doors, Harley Quinn's secret area as well. The special cells for each villain is a nice touch, probably could have been more complete if they gave us a Mr. Freeze figure for his cell, but, the variety of figures is great. Harley and Joker in alternate attire, along with a Scarecrow are unique and are aided by Batman & Robin, along with a guard, Poison Ivy and the Penguin. This fits in nicely with the Monster Fighter's Haunted House. I recommend this highly.

Great playability with little dissapointment ^_^

Comments about LEGO Super Heroes Batman Arkham (10937):

This set has great Playability it cannot be doubted, also looks really good too. Plenty of figures and little twisty bits to pull, open and play with. great for any lego fan!! The big let downs on this sadly would have to be that its not a whole building and the price as such makes it just abit too expeniseive for what you get. also one or two parts are a little flimsy in the central tower when moving the seprate moduls about. However As said before this is a real jem for those that love to play and are batman fans!! Not recomended for all but for fans a must have. ^_^
