I have had this stroller for 3 years now and I just had to come and write a review since as a new parent, I remember how useful all of the reviews were for me in making our decisions about which of the bizillion baby products/gadgets/etc. would work best for us. In retrospect, this was one of the best purchases we made in preparation for being City parents. I'm a born & raised NYer and my mom STILL has the sturdy umbrella stroller she used for all 4 of her kids starting 42 years ago! Strollers have gotten SO expensive, I honestly had NO idea. I couldn't believe the prices these things are going for these days! We toyed with the idea of a Britax with a 'reversible' seat because I really do believe on bonding with the child and giving the comfort of seeing the parent amidst being pushed around so many stimuli... and so we also looked at the Stokke, the Bugaboo series, etc. But then the blood flow came back to my head and I just couldn't justify paying more for a stroller than I paid for my first motorcycle! We saw someone with the City Mini on the subway, liked the look & asked them about it and they raved. So after much research & finding a deal we were fully happy to pay the $170 for it. I must say, it was completely worth it and we're looking forward to see good use out of it for the second ( & third & more...) children in the future. I don't know if these strollers will last 40 years, but the benefits now are numerous.

1) When our daughter was an infant until she was 13 months, we used the frame, without the fabric as the base & stroller for the car seat. She was facing us, it felt very sturdy & protective and I immediately noticed that the stroller was 'thinner' than the 'SUV brands' about because I could go down any tiny bodega shopping isle and the wheels allowed me to maneuver easily through small spaces. I carried her in am Ergo most of the 1st year anyway, but when we needed the stroller it was great. We live between Brooklyn and Rome, Italy and I couldn't have predicted how convenient those wheels would be on the cobblestobnes! ( I saw a 'fancy' stroller topple over w baby inside on the cobblestone streets! NOT with the stable Citi Mini!).

2) The stroller is perfect for local neighborhood shopping, errands, etc. with a very large and easy to load 'basket' on the bottom. the stroller has a good 'center' so can be loaded up quite a bit and still not fall back with your baby in it just because you let go of the handles.

3) even if it doesn't have an extendable foot rest my daughter always has and still can take a really good nap in this stroller. The fact that it reclines all the way back is great and when she was small & we were traveling a bit, with some blankets, she's even slept the night in the stroller.

4) Now that she's older, my daughter can climb in and out by herself and with the front bar, for neighborhood runs, doesn't need to be strapped in and she's still secure wioth the depth of the seat & the front bar.

Let's be real, its a lightweight stroller in comparison to what's out there, but it is NOT light. My mother refused to take my daughter on the subway with it so we did end up getting a jazzy umbrella stroller that we use for inter-borough traveling and now for international traveling, mainly because the cars are smaller in Europe and the Citi Mini is still too big for a standard EU trunk!

BUT, This is my Brooklyn Stroller and I am writing this review today after 2 months + of steady blizzards and rain and snow freezing rain over snow over layers of ice over snow.... and I must say I have been THOROUGHLY impressed by this stroller. When Its Icy, it had a grip and when its snowy-slushy, it cuts through it like hot water. Without this stroller I would have spent unnecessary money on cabs to school because its just a 15 min walk but the weather has been treacherous and it has truly been a life saver. There were school-runs where I would see moms struggling block after block to carry their child over and through the snow. I did not see ANY other strollers out in these weeks besides a few Citi Minis and one Phil & Teds jogger. ( no cute Bugaboos, No strollers were out for DAYS). Not only is my daughter super protected and cozy even without the rain cover ( the canopy is amazing) but she just holds onto the front bar and loves the 'bumpy bumpy' ride over mounds of ice/snow/slush. The guys in my neighborhood have taken to say "Oh, here she comes! She knows how to drive that thing!" and I even received applause from stranded pedestrians after maneuvering through a tricky snow-blocked mound! And if you do need to lift it over a huge puddle for example, it is not that heavy that its a struggle...
Whether its unpaved streets, potholes, a walk through the muddy park or an actual run in the park, this stroller is GREAT. We have done absolutely no maintenance to it in 3 years and it could probably use some oil as the steering can be quite tight at times, but my daughter walks a lot and we really only use it for Brooklyn school runs & grocery shopping/ farmer's market trips so I consider it a great investment.

You may need to get a companion umbrella stroller if you travel internationally/ move between boroughs like we do ( we went w the Uppababy G-Luxe) but still, with sales, we spent $300 on BOTH strollers and couldn't be happier.
Quality doesn't always mean a high price and I'm happy to say that over time, the lesson, from a native NYer is stay practical, functional and high-functioning in your baby-gear choices... who cares how 'chic' and expensive the stroller looks? Save the money for outfitting your kid in cute and 'chic' clothes...they are the REAL accessory after all ... or better yet....for that private pre-school they're on the waiting list for! Enjoy!

Note: Our stroller is gray/orange, but I do not see that one on Babies-R-Us anymore.

I loved how light-weight the stroller was and how easy to fold. We have an SUV, and it's easy for me to lift in and out.

HOWEVER, I never use it, because the front wheel locks up on me just about every time I use it. When it locks up, I can usually unlock it by flipping the lock on the front; however, sometimes this does not work and the wheel has to be removed (by my husband). I was at the mall without my husband and was so frustrated at the wheel, that I just left after trying to unlock it over and over (trying to steer a stroller with a locked front wheel is IMPOSSIBLE!).

I've sent in warranty claims, but I've never heard from Baby Jogger. I'm very, VERY unhappy. We are having a 2nd child, and I WILL NOT by the city mini double!!! I don't care how light-weight and easy to fold the stroller is, I will never buy another one! Customer service is terrible and so is the product!

Also, I think it's ridiculous that you have to pay so much money to buy the stroller adapter. I will never do that again!! Then again, I will never buy a Baby Jogger product again!

Almost perfect!

Comments about Baby Jogger 1006582 Baby Jogger City Mini Single Stroller - Black/Gray:

I use the city mini EVERY DAY for two years now (I don't own a car si use it a lot), and it's a charm, mostly. It's still in good shape (apart from the handle rubber cover that has split in two places, but it's not a big deal and the basket is a little torn near the elastic because I force in too much stuff in there (still do)) even if it has lived many adventures (went on a plane, on a trip in Europe, ride on a lot of pavement and lived two winter here in Quebec, ride throught ice and thick snow and road salt). I also love the canopy so much, it is so much better than what I see on other strollers. Folding is awesome and the stroller is pretty light. I wish the peek-a-boo attached with magnet instead of velcro (which is noisy), and that the seat stand more upright.

I went through 45 different strollers with my son.... bought and sold a few baby jogger brand strollers... but always went back to baby jogger.... So when I got pregnant with my daughter I knew what i needed. I purchased the city mini double, the city mini single and the city classic. Baby Jogger Brand is by FAR THE BEST!!! Dont waste your time trying others.

Love everything about it! It drives well, even over bumps, grass, and the beach. Super light weight to lift. My baby also seems super comfortable in it. And I really like how much shade you can get from the cover too.

Very adaptable!

Comments about Baby Jogger 1006582 Baby Jogger City Mini Single Stroller - Black/Gray:

My husband and I got this stroller as a shower gift before our first child was born. We got an adapter to be able to use our Peg Pereggo car seat with the stroller. This stroller has been so great for the entire 20 months our son has been with us! We used it with his car seat which was very easy and convenient. Once he was big enough to strap in, it converted back and was still so easy. This stroller is so easy to fold up and throw in the car quickly. The only features we aren't 100% happy with, is the small storage area underneath, and the plastic wheels. The compartment underneath is too small for a diaper bag so we end up taking things out of the bag to put underneath, there's just not much storage space. The wheels work fine, unless your outside and might have to go over rocks or rough spots. It's definitely not made for that. Rubber wheels would be more durable. Other than those two things, we love this stroller! We have used it so much. We're expecting #2 and plan on getting the Baby jogger summit x3!

One handed fold!

Comments about Baby Jogger 1006582 Baby Jogger City Mini Single Stroller - Black/Gray:

I have had my stroller for 2 years and it is still going strong. We use it every day and have used it everywhere from Disneyland to San Francisco. It folds like magic and I can do it while holding a diaper bag or my sons hand. The only issue I've had is the need for new wheels as I have worn out most of the tread from using it so much.

I have been using this stroller for more than a year. I walk my daughter to and from daycare each day. There isn't a stroller out there that folds more easily. The wheels have held up remarkably well, although I also know that you can replace the wheels. My daughter is a year and a half not, and I fluuy ex[ect that this stroller will last durably until she is too big for it. The expensive stroller that came with our baby seat is nice, but bulky, hard t fold, and shows wear with minimal use. My only problem with the stroller is, once it is folded up, if you want to set it down solidly, you have to do that on it's side, which is fabric. I generally set it on it's wheels, which means that it isn't quite as stable.

Love this stroller!

Comments about Baby Jogger 1006582 Baby Jogger City Mini Single Stroller - Black/Gray:

I searched for a long time before I came upon the city mini and I'm so glad I did. I love everything about this stroller. The handle is the perfect height. I'm only 5'6" but I have had trouble in the past with others almost having to bend down to push or kicking the bottom basket. I don't have that problem with the city mini at all. It's so easy to steer I can do it one handed with my 30lb toddler in it. Speaking of my son he absolutely loved it the moment I placed him in it. It's very easy to see out of for him and he even took a nap in it that first day. It was so comfy and reclines almost flat. The vent in the back helped keep him cool as well. My favorite feature is how easy it is to fold. Just reach in the seat and pull up on the handle and it folds down and locks itself. It's super lightweight and folds small enough to fit in almost any car. I'm so happy I purchased this stroller!

Love this stroller!

Comments about Baby Jogger 1006582 Baby Jogger City Mini Single Stroller - Black/Gray:

I bought this stroller 3 1/2 years ago right before the birth of my first son and I don't regret the purchase for a minute. This is really a wonderful stroller and I can't say enough great things about it. I do a lot of traveling and I did not want one of those monstrosities you see around that take up half of a car trunk and take 2 people to fold it up. This stroller has traveled with us to three continents and is in great shape. It is small enough to navigate the streets of NYC and London (well almost, I actually would recommend a small umbrella stroller for downtown London, but the City Mini was manageable) and hardy enough to bring to the beach as well. The one handed fold and full recline are essential features, and I honestly don't know how anyone does without these features. I would not have a stroller without them. I also find the full canopy very useful. The basket does not seem too small to me, and in addition you can actually hang quite a bit of weight from the handlebars on this stroller, too (not recommended by the manufacturer, of course, but in practicality, I hang my diaper bag and shopping there all the time - just buy a couple of hooks). In all, a really, really great buy. I would buy it again in a heartbeat, but I don't need to as mine is still in really good shape.
