I used this pump with my first 2 kids and plan to use it again. I've had friends comment that it is much quieter than the Medela pump. I'm glad to see that BRU carries it now. I've just had to replace the rubber parts with each kid, but the milk doesn't get in the tubes and I love that you can adjust the speed and suction. I have recommended this pump to anyone I know that is expecting and plans to breastfeed. I went back to work after both my kids and pumped until they turned 1.

I bought this product intending only to use it once or twice a day. Unfortunately my baby boy has latching issues so I have to pump after almost every feeding. My initial opinion of pump was that it was cheap, and I was correct. However I had read many good reviews and did not intend to be using it very much. The pump is a good option if you pump once or twice ta day. However if you intend to pump exclusively or for the majority of feedings this pump is not the one for you. Initially one of the caps did not fit as securely on the shield structure as it should have and I could hear some air escaping when I pumped. After about 1 1/2 months (of which I was only pumping 2-3 times a day) the motor started to make a squeaky sound, (the motor was very loud to begin with) at about 2 months (of which I started to pump 5-6 times a day) suction started to decrease. As of yesterday (3 1/2 months from first use) the suction was basically gone when pumping both breasts. It still works well when pumping one breast at a time. However I do not have the time to sit there and spend 30-40 minutes pumping after each feeding, what mom does? So I had to go out and buy a pricey Medela, but I love it already. I should have spend the extra money in the beginning and bought a quality pump. Overall if you are going to pump infrequently this pump is sufficient. However if you plan to use it on a daily basis and or for multiple years, don't waste your money and invest in a Medela or other pump made for frequent pumping.

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Breast Pump:

I found this breast pump to be mostly useless. If I could give it zero stars I would. Maybe if you are extra sensitive, and only need to pump once a day to build a supply it could be alright. I tried this pump because a friend had it and couldn't make it work for her, after 20 minutes she had 2 ounces. I tried it to see if it worked differently for me, being that I am breastfeeding my third child and have pumped some with all three children. It didn't matter. I have the older Philips Avent pump and love it fully adjustable suction pressure and speed. This pump does have adjustable speed and suction pressure. But I found that on the slower settings even with the suction at the highest I almost couldn't feel it. At the higher speeds and high suction I was able to get about 1.5 ounces from each side. With my other pump I average 4 ounces each.
Bottom line, without adequate suction this pump isn't worth having, it doesn't pump.

I started out using this pump when my son first came home. It is the only pump I had used so I didn't know any better. Now that my son is 3 months old I am so upset I have this. It is painful and the motor is out. It won't even suction anymore. I am going to opt for the maul pump instead until I can afford a nicer pump.

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Breast Pump:

Let's be honest, no pump is going to work as well as your baby nursing, but the Ameda is a decent double pump for a fulltime working mom. A full pumping session takes me 10-15 mins, and the Airlock system makes cleaning it a little more simple (both important for working moms). But what the pump lacks in design it makes up for in customer service. I bought mine about 9 months ago, and have changed out the diaphragms, tubing and valves (routine maintenance every 3 months), but one side wasn't working well anymore. I called Ameda customer service and explained the problem. We began to troubleshoot (apparently the cap sometimes loses its tight seal with the flange and diaphragm over time), but in the middle of the conversation my phone dropped the call. I never had a chance to call back, but what appeared on my doorstep 3 days later? A box with ALL new parts! (Even the parts I had not been able to find to replace prior). I switched out the parts and the pump is working as if it were new. Ameda has definitely made my pumping experience as easy as possible (and let's be honest again, pumping is not easy).

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Breast Pump:

I was very excited when I bought this pump as I had read many good reviews. However, I had it around a month and a half when I felt the suction was not as strong. I borrowed my sister's TT breast pump when I was visiting and it's suction was much better. I kept using mine when traveling which was every other weekend and it kept getting weaker and weaker. I had to rent one for home which I used more often. It finally made a loud racket and quit working three months into nursing. I also had difficulty from the beginning getting it to stay stuck to my chest as it would slide from the milk that would escape in the shield. I am now on a hunt for a pump for my second child and am very leery of spending a lot of money on any pump only to have a similar experience.

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Breast Pump:

I purchased this breast pump a week after my 2nd child was born when I realized a hand pump would not do the job. I had been unable to breastfeed my first child due to medical complications on my behalf, so this was my first exposure as electric breast pump user. As a midwife in Germany we used a different more expensive brand, but I was hoping to avoid spending several hundred dollars on a pump.
I was drawn to this pump by its compact size and affordable price. It is easy to clean and put together. The instruction manual explains nicely how to start and set the dials for pumping.
About a week into it, I started hearing a hissing sound and gradually started losing suction. Over the 2nd week of use, I lost almost all suction and had to dial to highest suction setting which makes the pump incredibly loud to operate, so my husband, newborn, and toddler in the next room woke up any time I had to pump at night. I called customer service for trouble shooting and it turned out the little white valves were already worn out. They do provide one set of replacements with the initial purchase but I was told if pumping 4-7 times a day, I should expect to replace them every 3 weeks. I did not even make it 3 weeks and the replacements run 8 dollars a pair! I was also told I needed to purchase different size flanges for my nipple size besides the pictures in the manual indicating I had the right size which was confirmed by my lactation consultant.
I am shocked that essential pump parts would wear out this quickly and this is apparently an expected event!

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Breast Pump:

I got this through my insurance provider and I have had issues with it from the beginning. First off, I loved that it was a closed system, meaning that it's almost impossible for milk to get into tubing and it can be used by multiple people if you want to sell it later. However, because of that, it has extra parts that will need to be replaced. The extra part is a silicone diaphragm, held on by a cap, that helps create the suction. One side would work but the other would pull up but wouldn't come down unless I took the cap off and put it back on. I would have to do that every 10 seconds or so or there would be essentially no suction. It also has membranes that fit to the flange but I had to purchase several because they either didn't fit securely or would simply not go on at all. They would just pop off when I tried to put it on. I liked that you could adjust the suction and speed and that there were spaces for the bottles to sit but without good, consistent suction none of that matters. Also, replacement parts for this are not as readily available as the Medela pumps. Because I am attempting to relactate via exclusively pumping, I need something that will work consistently. I purchased the Medela Pump In Style Advanced yesterday and it is, hands down, better than this pump even when this pump actually worked properly. It has much better suction and fewer parts that will need to be replaced. In one pumping session, I expressed the same amount of milk as I had in the entire day with the Ameda (since I'm relactating, I don't produce much milk yet).

I caution every mom to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PUMP! WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. Motor failed after five days of pumping with little milk. My breasts would get engorged all the time due to insufficient emptying. I have had mastitis four times with this pump. The suction is terrible and I had to keep removing the caps and replacing while pumping to get some kind of suction . I returned the broken pump to Ameda and received new one but this one has hardly any suction. Bottom line is do not waste your time or money. I am using the Medela now instead it's like night and day compared to the Ameda. Less pumping time and I get at least six onces with each pump. Good bye mastitis!

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Breast Pump:

My insurance paid for this pump, like many others on here rating the Ameda, so I went with it. After two frustrating weeks of getting just little dribbles from my engorged (and therefore full) breasts, I'm ready to throw in the towel with this pump and spend the money on the Medela (again, like so many others on here).

My experience has been that it works well MAYBE once a day- usually on my first pump. After that one use, however, the diaphragms go "flimsy" and ruin the suction for any pumping session that I try to go through later in the day. I find myself having to start and stop the pump constantly just to get the diaphragms situated, which kills any function of the pump. Basically I would wind up with very full, very sore breasts and almost no bottled milk to go with it.

I tried a Pump in Style before spending the money on a Medela and immediately there was a huge difference. It could express quite a bit of milk after my son had already eaten- after only five minutes, I was getting about as much as I had from the Ameda with 20 minutes of pumping on a full breast.

I do prefer the closed system on the Ameda, and I like how quiet its motor is, so it's not to say that there are zero positives. It's just that as far as actual pumping goes- it didn't do its job; at least not up to my expectations.

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Breast Pump:

Please, please, please do not buy this pump. I cannot tell you how many mothers I have spoken with who have had a terrible time with this product. I have a 13 week old baby and have had mastitis twice due to poor milk drainage despite pumping several times a day. Also I have never been able to pump more than an ounce per side (even after a skipped feeding) with this pump however during weight checks I have been feeding my baby well over 2 ounces per side. Another issue is if you need the 28 mm flange, it is an insert which goes inside the 30 mm flange and subsequently causes you to lose even more suction power.

After switching to another brand I am consistently able to get at least 2 ounces per side per session and it is MUCH more comfortable. I would not wish the pain, suffering and tears I have gone through because of this pump on my worst enemy. Please, please, please do not buy this pump.
