Experts Agree: Cooking Encourages Learning

"Watching kids pretending to cook has shown us that their favorite part comes when they get to serve what they've 'created'! Whether it's a tea party, a birthday party, or a family dinner, the pride they feel when they come to the table to share what they've prepared really shows on their faces. This not only supports imaginative play, but encourages sharing and social skills." -Lisa L., Child Research Specialist

It's just like a play kitchen and table, only smaller. I have all the accessories, which I recommend you get as well for even more playtime fun! The reason why I gave it only 4 stars is because of the height. I would say this is for a child of pretty short stature because my daughter almost topples it. At the same time, I think it's made for the sit down play. Another down fall is the oven door. For a young kid, it's kind of hard to close, but it's totally fun for kids and even their moms! They love showing you how they like to cook.

We were so excited to have purchased this toy for our son for Christmas that we bought it over a month ahead of time! But upon opening the box and starting to assemble the table, we realized over 8 different pieces were either cracked or had stress marks where they were about to crack! It looked as though the pieces had been stomped on. We were so upset, we immediately re-packed it and rushed it back to the store. When we got there, we discovered that our local Toys 'r' Us was suddenly being liquidated (we had just been there a few days earlier making another purchase and nothing was posted or said about the liquidation)...and they no longer had any information about our purchase, and could not make an exchange or a refund! We bought another table right then and there, and ended up driving to another store across town to return the broken table for the refund. The second table was okay. Nothing was broken. I noticed that the color brown of the base of the second table was completely different than the first table we had. I will say that the oven door on the front sticks something horrible, and so my son can't open and close it without our help (therefore, it usually stays open). Other than that, the product works fine. My son is more interested in the serving tray and the pizza pieces than the rest of the utensils or food included, and barely ever uses the table itself. I realize that might change over time, but for now it was not worth all the trouble we went through to get it right!

    Fun for Everyone!

    By Bluebird

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Servin' Surprises Cook 'n Serve Kitchen and Table Set:

This was a Christmas gift last year for my niece and three nephews. Santa left them the table at their grandparents' house and then each of them received various food accessory sets to go with it. It was--and has continued to be--a tremendous hit with all of them. The three oldest (now 3 years, 22 months, and 20 months) all head for this table regularly, particulary because of the music and sound effects. The food is very realistic and a lot of fun to play with, but the most popular food is probably the pizza, which comes as part of this table set. They all love the lively pizza music that plays when the pan is "plugged" into the orange serving tray. I have been particularly impressed by the longevity of this toy's appeal. It's been standing in the corner of my parents' kitchen since last Christmas because it has been used so consistently. It's definitely one of their favorite toys!

    Best kid toy in years

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Servin' Surprises Cook 'n Serve Kitchen and Table Set:

As a mom to 6 all under the age of 11 we have had many toys come and go in our house. My 2nd youngest got this a lil over a year ago and they all play with it. I love the add on's just wish they were easier to find here in Canada. Nothing has broken and the batteries we first started with still yet to die so that's a bonus too. The 3 i recommended below we have and were great add on's that makes playing with this kitchen that much more fun.

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Servin' Surprises Cook 'n Serve Kitchen and Table Set:

This is a good and sturdy table. My only complaint is that when I received it the stove top won't turn on. I called Fisher-Price and they won't send out a replacement for it. They claim all they can do is send replacements for missing pieces. My option was to send the entire unit back for a whole new one, or ship back the column and wait for a refund check. I already have this pit together and don't want to take it away from my child until I can get another

We bought this toy for my 2-year-old daughter because it could serve as both a toy and a table. She loves using the table both to play kitchen and to color on, and I love that it cleans up really easily if she gets crayon on it! The sounds are neat, and she especially loves that the oven lights up when she uses it so it looks like it is really cooking. It seems very durable and was not too difficult to assemble. Overall, I am very satisfied with the purchase!

My kids love this table! I love that stuff fits in the middle to store food and dishes. We just actually raised it and now they play with it even more! My girls are almost 5 and 2 and have been playing with it daily since Christmas. The oven door sticks a lot, but other than that, a great toy!

      Did not hold daughter's interest

      By mckennamommy

      from Pensacola, Florida

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Servin' Surprises Cook 'n Serve Kitchen and Table Set:

I bought this last year for my then 2 1/2 year old daughter. I thought it was very cute and very well made. She had zero interest in it. She played for it for maybe five or ten minutes and then moved on. I finally gave it away a few months ago because it was just taking up space and she never played with it. I personally thought it was adorable and had a lot of cool things to do and I loved the way all of the accessories fit in to the middle of the table. Unfortunately my daughter didn't feel the same way about it.

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Servin' Surprises Cook 'n Serve Kitchen and Table Set:

I would first like to say that several of the pieces in this table/kitchen were received damaged. Fisher Price refunded my money because replacement parts were not available. My grandkids love it just the same. My granddaughter especially loves the oven and all of the dishes. My grandson just likes the table. I would recommend this to anyone.

Sadly there was slight damage to the table ... sratches and a bent centerpiece. Other than that I love this toy and so does my son. He was thrilled the moment he laid eyes on it. His friends enjoy it too. It doesn't take up a lot of room either. My only wish is that it came with stools.
