        I read all the other reviews on how cheap this was and broke within the first few days, because it's made out of plastic. It is mostly made out of plastic, but in my opinion doesn't seem that flimsy. We've had ours for over a year and it still looks brand new. We've been collecting Thomas wooden railway stuff since my son was 1 and he's now 3, plays with them everyday and loves this crane! it's very entertaining and a great addition to his tracks, bridges, tunnels, etc. Sometimes the string gets caught up and my son gets frustrated but we've taught him how to properly use this toy and how to fix the problem and he now knows how not to break it. :o)

            This is a horrible product. I would not buy it. It broke within the first hour of my three year old playing with it. It is made of cheap plastic and not wood! Not like the nicer sets.

                    This really makes me yearn for the "good ol' days" when Thomas actually met "wooden railway" rather than junk Made-In-China plastic (85%) on top of a tiny piece of wood on the bottom. It is totally untrue to call this "handmade of wood."

                    This was a gift and a total waste of money.
