Pleasant Surprise

We had bought Air Hogs Havoc IR helicoptors for our two boys. One flew well and was a lot of fun, but ended up broken within the hour. The second never flew well out of the box. After two days of use, it broke as well. My boys were disappointed, and I expected better for the price they were selling at.

So, we headed to the local Toys 'R Us store to search for replacement parts (there has to be replacement parts, right?) Well, there were none to be had. While scanning the shelves, I saw this heli. There was no price on it, so I took it to the till, thinking that it would cost more, seeing as it appeared to be constructed better than the Air Hogs.

As it tuned out, it actually cost less, and seeing as I needed a spare helicopter for the boys to use while I set about fixing theirs (read: "Daddy wanted to get a heli too") I bought it (thank you, dear wife!)

We couldn't wait to get it home and try it out. As it turned out, it is way eaiser to fly, and we are having a really good time with it. So far, it has survived a weekend, and it looks like it will hold up well.

The battery charge is good, and I get a reasonable amount of flying time with it. The blades are designed to pivot on impact, so they are less likely to chip or break when it has the inevitable crash landing.

The only downside at this point is, just like the Air Hogs, I anticipate that parts will break, and there is no evitent source for spare parts. It would be great if Toys 'R Us would be able to stock these parts, especially as it's one of their branded toys.

I'll be checking with the local hobby retailers to see if there are parts from similar R/C helicopters that may serve as replcements, since it would be a shame to toss the whole unit for the sake of a broken blade (I know, I know, there are online sources, but I prefer to buy local when possible).

Overall, we've been having a great time with this chopper, and really appreciate its durability and ease of flight.

It was being used indoors as suggested and landed on a hardwood floor and that was it - broken blade. They do not sell parts for these so it's trash. Don't disappoint your kids with this toy that gets them excited but will be garbage in less then 10 minutes

I flew this helicopter for about 15 minutes before it was totally unusable. As is expected with a remote control item especially intended for kids 8+, it is going to crash into something at least once.
The helicopter flew great and perfectly until it's first crash. If you are an experienced flyer then it is probably going to be fine for you. I would NOT recommend it for inexperienced flyers as it is NOT durable.

My son was heart broken and all he really wanted for Christmas was a rc helicopter. Well this lasted less then 5 minutes and have spent the last month trying to fix it and or find parts and you can not find any and nothing works.

it is a nice to look at in a box or on a shelf.First off the battery life is junk on it.the durable just junk after 2 days blades break off and they don't carry spare parts for it.If i was you i wouldn't waste your time or money on something that will only last for a few days.

My grandson loved this toy. He now is challenged to perform hand and eye coordination. This is not an easy toy to master but it is truly fun to watch. To see his face light up and he excitement of the aircraft starting up is priceless. This will be a toy that will last him for a long time provided he does it crash it to many time. :)

Out of the the box, it worked excellent. Great stability, decent construction..a lot of fun. Oddly enough though, it had only one connecting rod betweeen main rotor and stability bar. Thought it was a packaging error, but it was like that on all of them. All other brands have two. Anyway, I played with it ONE day and then it wouldn't take a charge the following day. I even changed the batteries but the heli was dead! Nothing! Took it back to TRU and got a refund. Should have known better than to deal with an "off brand" heli but props to TRU for great customer service.

use copter alot,mostly indoors, he liked the toy but could have used a solid metal piece for the stabilizer it breaks way too easy. small plastic center piece is very hard to repair if you have large hands,and not alot of patience.
