Wuld have given less then one star if possible! I bought 2 and then returned them. Did not feel sturdy enough for the top of the stairs nor for the door way. Not only did you have to line up the bottom and hook that in but the top too so it would close. I was looking for something easy and simple to use (sometimes with one hand) and this was definetly not it! I ended up buying Safety 1st Perfect Fit Gate for $6 more (because it just happened to be on sale) and it was the best thing ever!!

I really like this gate. It was super easy to use and was toddler proof. We used it to block off our stairs. Not sure why the bad reviews. We ended up buying a different gate that has a pet door for our cat. After using the new gate that was more expensive I wish this gate would have worked for our needs. I think its a great gate.

We needed to create some boundaries in the house and this gate worked well. It installed relatively easy and is operational, so no complaints there. It does however, squeak ....nothing a little oil can't fix. Not a long term solution but something to address an immediate need. Hope this helped.

Oriiginally I bought this gate for the top of the stairs when my mother was alive to prevent her from an a fall. I now use this gate at the top of stairs & in doorways to keep my Grandson confined & safe.

Hubby found it easy to install. Have been using this product for well over 10 years now. Currently going out to purchase another & to see if I can get the hardware because a contractor threw them out with the wood they were attached to.

I know many have written that the scews pull out of the wall. If you take the time to find beams & correctly secure it wear ou need it there would not be a problem.

We moved and needed a replacement gate for our new house (top of the stairs). I purchased this gate thinking it was the same as our old gate. I was WRONG! This is by far the worst gate ever. DON'T waste your money. Spend the extra money and go for the Dreambaby gate instead.

This isn't the greatest gate straight out of the box, it needs improvements. It didn't come with anchors, which makes very little sense to me! This gate really needs drywall anchors, so we got some for it and it has made the gate a lot more sturdy. Installation is not very difficult at all. If you are using it where it is close to being fully extended than I would suggest bracing it better as well. The latch isn't the greatest either but doable.

We have this at the foot of our stairs to keep our 1 year old from climbing up and the dogs down as well. It looks great and since I'm very tall I just step over it so the latch doesn't bother me that much...this won't work for everyone. Also our little girls are more gentle, not sure if this product would be the greatest for a more active child ( a climber). I also would not us this at the top of the stairs for the same reason.

I like this gate for the price and look. It's safe and great for our family because we are handy and improved it by bracing and anchoring it better. Also, the fact that we don't always have to use the latch because we are are tall and strong enough to step over it and lift our children over.

I wouldn't buy this gate if your not handy or willing to improve it yourself, or if you have an active climber and want to use this at the top of the stairs. Or if a less than great latch would irritate you.

My son is energetic and strong. He shook the gate enough that we had to remount it three times as the screws kept coming out of the wall. The latch is squeaky and loud, and trying to get the bottom hook in that little hole while squeezing the top part to secure it in a second hole is not easily done one-handed. Especially when you are holding a heavy baby in your arms.

The two loop latching mechanism is annoying & impractical. I'm looking for another gate to replace this one.

This gate is safe, but it is loud to latch and since my kids room is next to the stairs, that is no good. If you have a climber I would not get this gate. It is ok for us because our girls are not climbers and it is just there to slow them down or stop them if they sleep walk, even with that I am getting a new gate.

This gate was easy to install, when using our own screws. The screws they provide you with are ridiculously short, especially if you have drywall and are using wall anchors. After installation the gate was completely useless. The latch is HORRIBLE, and very difficult to use. The plunger was hard to push and the system of lifting the gate to remove the bottom hook from the bottom loop is cumbersome with a child in your arm. We are returning this tomorrow.

Whoever designed this thing obviously did not use it or even try it out at all. The overall design of this gate is nice. But the latch - worst piece of junk I've ever seen. Trying to get both pieces to fit in without the other falling out is nearly impossible...and we ended up putting a bunch of scratches in our wall. The gate by design doesn't sit level which leads to problems in latching the gate. We promptly took this thing down. I should have known to order the Evenflow version over this one. We had that one before & thought this one was similar. Definitely NOT.
