My now 18 month old, has been using this from the time he was about 11 months. He loves these cups! He has no problem getting liquid out, and even prefers these to the cups with spouts. I have had no problem with these leaking, as long as they are not filled too full. If they are filled too close to the lines then the liquid kind of siphons out.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    This is a great cup to train your child how to transition into a regular cup. I started it at 10 months and my son loves it because "he's like a big boy", since it dosen't have a nipple/spout. I recommend washing it in your dishwasher top rack, taking it apart first, then taking it out to air dry on a bottle rack so that the rubber ring dries completely. By doing this I have avoided any strange smells or mildew buildup that other users encounterd.

          The idea is there and my daughter really enjoys her "Big girl cup", but I find that it's hard to put back together and it isn't all that leak proof. It either pours out the small vent holes, leaks down her face or doesn't come out at all.

            Could not wait to get this cup for my 9-month old son after seeing in on FaceBook. As soon as we got back home from Babies-R-Us, I ripped the package open, cleaned it, filled it with juice and handed it to my son. It did take several tries for him to figure out that he had to suck just like his sippy cup even though it did look like a regular cup (and we have been practicing with a regular open cups). He now has the hang of it. LOVE it and wish they made a coffee cup just like it.
