My husband and I just played with my 3 year old son, and we enjoyed it. It worked fine for us, too. My son enjoyed it more than "space" games, where my son doesn't like to listen to the number of spaces he is supposed to move. Or maybe I just found it less frustrating than trying to get him to only move 3 spaces, not 10. But my son played it twice, and he followed the rules, and got excited when he got his piece, and when he won.
It is a quick game, too.

You play by spinning, then opening and picking from the colored boxcar you get (or spin again). You have to fill your own character boxcar card with the boxcar pieces, following the pattern card you get. (numbers 1-4, colors, shapes, or a mixture of them all)

Example, one card could have 1, 3, 2, 4, 4.

Or, Square, Green, 3, 1, Circle

Though for colors it doesn't have letters, it has a paint splotch of that color. As for shapes, it shows the shape.

It might not last forever. When you open the boxcars, it's just a piece of cardboard, like a puzzle piece. Or a open-the-flap book (maybe a little thicker) You take off the piece, pick the piece you need, if there is one in there, then put the door back on. I could see these getting bent. But I'd still buy the game. Even if they got bent, or broken, I would probably buy the game again.

Was disappointed in the quality of the game board. The spinner would bind and had to be constantly adjusted. Definitely needs work for little ones to be able to enjoy the game. Expected more for the money.
