This toy was given to my 5 year old son for Christmas. He was very excited to receive it initially, but was quickly disappointed when he discovered how difficult it was to actually play with. Transforming the toy from one character to another is quite complex. In some cases, it requires 20 steps. The steps are not simple movements either. There are steps that require attaching and detaching parts, twisting, turning, etc...some of these are difficult for adults, let alone children. Pieces fall off of this toy randomly and will not stay attached when you put them back on. At one time, you could have 8+ pieces laying around off of the toy. All in all, we were extremely disappointed. Had we not discarded the packaging, we would have returned this to the store. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE!

Bought this as a gift for my 5 year old grandson. It is too complicated for a young child. There are up to 20 steps to transform it from one figure to another. That's too much for a young boy to manage. Even his dad couldn't get the thing to work properly. Returned it immediately.

Ok so it's been a couple of years since the Death Star/Vader transformer that was a pain, but amazing. Now comes a watered down version featuring Vader-Anakin in a Empire/Republic Cruiser. One thing the package art doesn't show you, or any of the pictures is the lazy design of this toy. The sounds have some vader voice bits, as well as anakin's. But if you transform it into the Republic cruiser there is no sound for it. Nor are there any ship sounds at all. Transformation is simplistic (so this is great for kids) but problems arise when you have this thing in Vader mode. Vader's legs are extended and the weight of the plastic on his back - will require you to lean this figure against something. The shell parts for the Empire cruiser sits haphazardly on his back and will fall off easily. If you turn it into either ship, all you have to do is flip it upside down for the other (now I'm sure Hasbro could've thought of a better design for this toy) but at the price...they took the lazy way out. Buy this when it is on Clearance, don't bother at the [$] mark.

This toy is fun to play with and is very well made. The quality of the plastic and the fit and finish of the parts is precise.It is far easier to transform than the Deathstar to Vader crossover so kids and adults will get a lot less frustrated going through its four transformations. Articulation and starship accuracy is very well done.Vaders wings won't stay on shoulders and Anikin's gun doesn't stay on as well as I would like, but this toy is still one of the best transformers ever made--top 20 for sure! Lots of cool light effects and sounds. A steal for [$].
