I bought this gender neutral Chicco Travel System (Midori) because of the great reviews on various sites. They are true! Additionally, I recently had the car seat inspection, as required before delivery, by a certified technician at my hospital. They are not allowed to be biased towards any one type of product; however, they unoffically said this (KeyFit 30) is the best car seat by far over any other type... not because of safety (they all are really the same in that category), but for convience to the parents. It's very user friendly (easy to adjust, remove, lock in place, etc... which is beneficial for mommy and daddy.

One additional note, some reviews stated the cargo area in the bottom of the stroller is not spacious when the seat back is reclined fully (required when car seat is attached to stroller). This is true, however, I found the perfect diaper bag for the limited space: Fisher-Price Deluxe Messenger Diaper Bag. This fits perfectly, when layed on its side. It also matches the stroller's colors perfectly (gray and lime green).

Being the daddy, I needed to have a somewhat masculine looking diaper bag. This is perfect, since it doesn't look like a diaper bag at all. Since it matches the stroller, mommy is OK with it, too. :) Check it out, it also has great features.

Other pros: easy to open/close stroller (one turn of the handle). Front wheels can lock in straight position, for when you are using over sandy paths.

For cons: bulky and kind of heavy. But the quality of the product makes this minor detail worth it.

Great Car Seat, Over-Size Stroller

First time parents - Read up! This is likely one of the first major purchases expecting parents will make since they will need a car seat to take the baby home from this hospital. After reading the Consume Reports car seat review, I was sold on the Chicco Keyfit 30. And I figured that it would be a good idea to go ahead and get the stroller as well.

Now, my son is seven months old and has already outgrown the car seat and the stroller has only been used once. Just because the car seat is rated for 30-lbs, doesn't mean your baby will be comfortable in it once they get much over 20-lbs. He was getting extremely hot and fussy in this seat after about six months and I have switched to a Britex Convertible Car Seat which has plenty of room for him to grow into.

For new parents, I strongly recommend purchasing the Chicco Keyfit 30 car seat, but passing on the stroller. First off, this is a VERY LARGE stroller. It takes up most of the trunk space in a full size sedan and don't fit in the trunk of most mid size cars. Second, it's like driving a 4x4 pick-up truck through the mall - it's not very maneuverable and is difficult to push through tight shopping aisles. Lastly, the stroller itself really isn't that great once your baby has outgrown the car seat portion.

Bottom line - Purchase the car seat and skip the stroller. I frequently travel with my son and wouldn't even consider taking this stroller through the airport. Purchase a good baby carrier harness and you and your baby will be more happy while traveling.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller - Midori:

The green is a bit more subdued than pictured, which is great... The stroller was a bit hard to put together, took about 45 minutes. We have an older car without a LATCH system and this was one of the few bases that had a locking mechanism for seat belts in addition to the LATCH...the stroller is large and is definitely not a one hand open/close piece of baby gear, but with practice it becomes quick and easy to open and close. I read other reviews that said seat won't fit in most grocery carts, but I haven't tested this myself. Our baby was 4-1/2 lbs when we brought him home and again the Keyfit is one the few that are rated for little guys...we are very happy with this system...cute and safe!

Overall I am happy with this set. The seat snuggles my wee one, it is easy to snap on and off the base, the stroller is easy to fold up and unfold... I also like the stroller storage in the bottom, the drink holder.. all very useful. I like the fabric, it is easy to clean.... the only downfall I will say, is that it is HEAVY. I had a C-section, so I was unable to open up or carry the stroller for about 2 months. I can use it now, but it is very heavy. I wish I had shopped around for a lighter one.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller - Midori:

This was a gift from my dad, it is exactly what I was wanting! I wanted chicco because it is rated one if the best carseats. The carseat and stroller are well built. The carseat was installed in about 5 minutes, very easy install. The passenger seat can't lean back anymore but this would be expected with any carseat. The stroller is easy to open and close, I wouldn't say you could do it one handed, but it's still really easy. Both have a little weight to them, I was expecting lighter but I haven't tested this against other brands. The only con that I have is I don't like the visor on the carseat. It is hard to move and doesn't fit the carseat that well. If you have it behind the head of the carseat you have to undo it to move it to where you can use it. But if you leave it in the position to use, then it bunches up at the top where the babies head goes. Not a problem when the are first born but as they get taller baby might end up resting his head on visor and that wouldn't be comfortable. Overall I like the system and will buy one again if I have another child of different gender or after this one has expired.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller - Midori:

We use this stroller combo a lot and we absolutely love it. The handle is adjustable which is great for hubby and I. My son is very cozy in the stroller and enjoys napping in it while we are on walks. The car seat clicks in so easily and it comes with drink holders for baby and Mommy! The carseat is super easy to install with the built-in level and LATCH system. I absolutely refused to use towels or pool noodles to install the car seat "properly", and this car seat is so easy to adjust and confirm that it is level. The material cleans very easily and the Midori is a very nice green color (not too bright or dark). Having the straps be adjustable on the front is great. It makes taking a sleeping baby out of the seat so much easier and I can quickly tighten when the baby is squirming around. I researched car seats for a long time and am so glad I got the Chicco! It is so easy to use!

I know a lot of people don't like the 4 wheel strollers and say the jogging style ones are so much easier to push. This thing pushes like a dream! It is easy to steer, even on grass. We even did a 5k with this stroller (we have a jogging stroller, but it was slightly rainy out, so we kept him in the car seat and used both sunshades to keep him dry since the jogger's shade is too small). It even was decent handling during the sandy/gravely jogging path portion of the 5k. It also folds and unfolds super easily. If I had to buy all over again, I would get this one again in a heartbeat. We rarely use our really nice jogger because we like this stroller set so much!

The carseat and stroller are both very user friendly. The carseat is a bit heavy but easy to get in bad our of the car base. I also appreciated the infant insert. We didn't have to buy anything additional to hold her head in place. The stroller is easy to steer with one hand and folds easily. We did end up buying a more compact stroller for trips because the this one still takes up a lot if room in the trunk.

My father-in-law bought this for my wife and I. He got the wrong color though. We returned it to the store and purchased a color that was only available off the internet. The store set us up for home delivery in 5 days. It showed up in 3 days! The instructions to put it together, are not for children though. My 13 yr old could not figure it out. But I helped him through it by looking at the pictures closely, and we finished it in 30 mins. Love the product!

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller - Midori:

I like this stroller very much and the car seat too. The car seat base is exceptional in that it has an adjustable bottom so when you are installing it you can adjust it as necessary instead of shoving a towel or pool noodle in the back of it to ensure safety. It also has the level on the side which helps gauge that it is properly installed. I went to a car dealer and had them do a safety check on mine and the installer really liked the adjustable base. He also mentioned that the level part needs to be further toward the back, not the center, so that once the seat with the baby snaps in, it's in the middle. I was glad I went, even though this was super easy to install (even though my car doesn't have LATCH). We put it in the middle seat because that's the safest protection against side impact.

The carrier itself is kind of heavy and add a growing baby and wow! it's heavvvy! But my husband has no problems lifting and carrying it for short distances. I can manage it too but not as easily, especially now that my baby is 16 pounds. The seat I think must weight at least 12 pounds on it's own though (estimate). The thing I would change about the carrier is the seatbelt buckles have these pads on them that don't seem to come off for washing. They should be up on baby's shoulders I know, but sometimes when I'm just pushing him in the stroller (we don't always belt him in for strolling), I'll find a puddle of drool or baby slobber on the pad, and I don't see a way to wash it (besides warm water and a towel). The back part and bottom part do detach for washing, so that's nice, and necessary! We've had some diaper accidents that require a serious washing.

The stroller has locking wheels on each wheel. The seat snaps right in easily. I have sometimes used the base of the stroller as a changing table when I surprisingly end up in a bathroom with no changing table. It's really handy. The bottom area has a little bin for storing stuff while you are on the go, but the opening is too small to fit my diaper bag or my medium sized purse so I usually just throw a blanket and some toys down there.

The adjustable handle bar is also good. My husband is 6'4 and I'm 5'6 so we have some different needs as far as handle height. It seems to work great both for both of us.

I love this system. The car seat/base is what we get the most use out of. The stroller is a little bulky/heavy for everyday errands. I highly recommend the chicco stroller caddy! It's all we've used for the first three months. It's much lighter. We'll use the key fit stroller more once she can sit up in it probably. I love being able to just click the car seat in and out. Little one falls asleep quite often in the car, so it's a plus.
