The first Graco Infant Swing was created in 1953. Graco Metal Products originally manufactured car parts, but when one of the founders left the company to pursue other interests, the remaining partner, Robert Cone, decided he wanted to try and manufacture something new, he just didn't know what.

That's when David Saint, an engineer, presented Cone with a revolutionary new idea, a wind-up infant swing. Saint, a father of 9 children, was inspired by a friend's wife who soothed her tired baby by swinging in a backyard glider swing.

The Graco Swyngomatic went on to sell millions, and Graco was official out of the car parts business and into the baby product business. Today, Graco continues to design and develop innovative childcare and baby products including the imonitor Digital Baby Monitor and the compact folding Contempo Highchair. Graco Baby Swings are still one of Graco's top-selling products.

My little man loves this swing. He loves to nap in it! The noise and music help him sleep well as i have a four year old running around screaming so he's beena able to nap!! Only trouble is i noticed is sometimes i have the swing and the music on at the same time and suddenly one of them shuts off. Wierd but thats the only thing thats strange! Other than that i love it and i would definately buy it again!!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Well while it was working, it was a great swing (we had the lovin' hug, but with a different pattern). My son had reflux, so we would put him in it to get to sleep and then move him to his crib. It was easy to use, practical, and he would happily sit in it for hours.Do be prepared to have lots of extra batteries on hand! We bought it new, used it everyday til he was probably about 4 months old, and then at least once a week there after until he was probably about 9 mo. old. Well towards the end, it would make a funny buzzing noise and would swing too slowly for the setting it was on. Sometimes it would stop all together. We switched batteries, and tried several things to fix it. Also, my son was not that heavy (was underweight until he was over a year old), so his weight was not a factor in it working. Evenually it quit working all together. Bottom line, if you want a great swing for a few months, or plan to just have one child, this might be the swing for you. I'm very disappointed that I'm going to have to drop another [$] plus on a swing for baby number two.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This swing has been the best thing for me as a first time mom. My 7 week old son falls asleep almost immediately after putting him in. He usually stays asleep from 45 minutes to an hour. Hands down the best gift ever because when he is in there I have freedom to get other things done without the guilt because he is fast asleep. Just make sure you have enough batteries on hand as it is battery operated you wouldn't want to run out of juice when you need it most.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had this swing for about three months and LOVE it. As a first time mom this product has to be one of my favorites so far. When my baby gets fussy, sometimes this is the only thing that will calm her down and let me do housework in peace.
