So it is always hard to tell by reviews because of human error with assembly. If you put the right clamps on the right parts everything fits. You need your own tools for assembly. I held the bike while the hubby tightened everything and it took a whole 5 minutes. You have to use some elbow grease to really get them tight. There are complaints about the rubber/foam/plastic tires but balance bikes are meant to be light weight so 2 years old's can carry them!!! All balance bikes have these kinds of tires. For the money its a great bike. If you want a top of the line over priced balance bike...this isn't it. This is a good priced beginner balance.

Assembly of this push bike is impossible with the given hardware. I had to do some costum modifications in order to assemble this bike.
    1. The screw clamp used to hold the handlebar stem to the frame is too big. I had to find some metal shims to place between clamp and frame to get a solid hold so the handlebars won't be loose.
    2. The screw clamp to hold the seat post to the frame was so rediculously small, it would not fit around the frame to hold the seat post. I tried to enlarge it, but then the screw holes no longer lined up. Bottomline, I had to buy a heavyy duty screw type hose clamp to secure the seat post to frame. What a pain.

After it was assembled, my son loves it. There is a medallion on the handlebar tube that says "Schwinn Quality", made me laugh.

Did not have any trouble assembling the bike, all pieces fit together fine. You do need several different tools (which we happen to have), not just screwdrivers. Seems pretty sturdy, but have not tried it out yet since it is a Christmas present.

4 year old loves his balance bike and rides it everywhere. Hard to keep up with him on walks because he goes and goes. Loves it in the backyard to. Tires have no air so never flat. Easy assemble with little trouble, just use the right bracket for seat tightening! Bought second one for brother.

Comments about Pacific Cycle Schwinn Walkabout Balance Bike:

I am so dissapointed in this bike! Neither clamps would fit over the seat post, but they both fit perfect over the handle bar post. I finally got the rubber mallet out and pounded the black metal one on as far as I could get it to go over the seat post. The seat is on and I can clamp it down, but it still moves from side to side. I can see that it is going to help my 3.5 year old learn to balance and I got it for a really great price on clearance, so we'll keep it and deal with the nuisances.

My wife bought this despite reading the reviews. Sure enough, the seat clamp does not fit over the frame so the seat cannot be installed. I am putting the right clamp on the seat and not putting the steering clamp on the seat. You can see which goes where in the pictures on the box. The part just does not fit. Since some reviewers found it easy and some impossible, it seems there are defective parts shipping with some of bikes.

Comments about Pacific Cycle Schwinn Walkabout Balance Bike:

The only reason i bought this balance bike was because I thought it would make it easier for my Son to learn to ride his bike, and it did. After about 30 - 40 mins of coasting and balancing on this he was able get on his actual bike and balance on that. By the next day he was riding and pedalling his bike without assistance.

As far as assembly i am not sure what people mean when they say it is difficult to assemble. My 9 year daughter started putting this together for her younger brother while i was at work. The only thing she could not do was fully tighten the Handle Stem Clamp and the seat clamp all the way. Once i tightened them some more my son was good to go.

Let me begin that I got this on sale for only[$], so for that price, it's a good buy, [$], I'd go for a higher quality. Assembly was complicated and no matter how many times my husband tightens it, the seat won't stay straight. Everytime my (tiny, 24lbs) 2 year old son gets on/off, the seat moves to the side so I have to straighten it before he can ride. He's still getting the hang of it, but I love the idea that after this he can ride a regular bike without those ridiculous training wheels. I thought this would save my back, but I'm still having to hold on because he hasn't caught his balance yet, though I'm hopeful he will in a few weeks.

Contrary to the other comments, I found this bike very easy to assemble. Took maybe 20 minutes.

My 3yr old son loves it and is able to coast down hills w/ his feet off the ground.

                            Downsides:
                            1) the "tires" are made of some sort of soft plastic, not rubber, and do not appear to be replaceable. My son likes to ride on some dirt and gravel paths at a nearby park, and thus the wheels are very scratched up and have gravel rocks embedded in them.
                            2) he goes so fast on this thing that I can't keep up with him on foot anymore! I have to ride my bike with him (not necessarily a bad thing). :)

Otherwise, very happy with it. Much more reasonable than the wooden balance bikes that sell for 2-3x as much.

Easy to assemble and easy to ride even for smaller children. When assembling make sure you use the correct fasteners in the front and rear seat mounts otherwise they will not fit properly. I think other posters got the two mixed up and that is why they had problems. My only disappointment was the the wheels are made of hard plastic and not metal like they appeared in the picture. Regardless they should stand up to anything my 3 year old can dish out.
