Description



Replicate the home of the nation's Head of State with the LEGO Architecture The White House (21006). There are few structures in the United States with the history and reverence of The White House, designed by James Hoban. On July 16, 1792, President George Washington chose this James Hoban design from six competing designs from renowned architects. This six-story Sandstone structure was meant to command respect for the nation from citizens and foreign visitors. Construction took place from 1792 - 1800 and it was rebuilt by Hoban following the fire of 1814. The assembled White House model stands 9" (22 cm) wide on a base with printed name label and includes a booklet with facts about the building, its construction and its history.

Collect the whole series: Frank Lloyd Wright's Guggenheim Museum, the Space Needle in Seattle, the Sears Tower and John Hancock Center in Chicago, New York's Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center, and The White House in Washington D.C.

To be able to understand why LEGO has been successful for so long, just look to the name. LEGO originally got its name from founder Ole Kirk Christiansen who combed the Danish words "Leg Got" which means "play well". He later realized that LEGO in Latin translates to "I put together." The LEGO set became a standard of creative play for children worldwide, unlocking the creativity to build vehicles, buildings, cities and more. Historians point to the invention of the wheel as a major turning point in world history. The invention of the LEGO wheel had the same monumental effect in the history of LEGO, making it possible to create cars, trucks and eventually the LEGO train building set that is one of the most successful LEGO sets of all time. LEGO currently produces about 20 billion LEGO bricks a year and has sold over 400 billion LEGOs in their history -- enough for every person on the planet to have over 60 LEGOs each!

        Typical ToysRUs shopping experience. None - I repeat - None - of the Lego Architecture toys are available online, NOR in the stores! Yet they run an ad saying Buy One, Get One 50% off. One store employee said it's a "glitch" in their system. If someone buys something online, then returns it to a store, the computer program will automatically code that product as "available in stores", when it's actually NOT AVAILABLE in stores.
