I agree that this product is a bit misleading. On the package, it appears that you can just upload a photo and crayola will turn it into a cartoon. It does allow you to upload a photo, but it really is pointless to do so. Either way, you need to customize the character to look like your child. I managed to get my son's character to look just like him. If I would be rating this product for me then I would give it less stars. But I cannot deny that my 5 year old son LOVES this. Starring in his very own comic book with Spiderman is so awesome to him. He is coloring the pages as I write this and is 100% happy. And that's what really matters. So, for that I give this product five stars. I wish crayola would make one with batman!

A Terrible experience. The Crayola website does NOT work to print the images. So what you get is a code to use the website, markers to color pictures and 30 white sheets of paper. We are very computer savvy in our home and I am confident that if the website worked at all, my techie husband would have been able to figure it out. So disappointng.

I don't understand why you need to upload picture. It ends up looking nothing like your child. False advertising!

This is a really cute and creative product. My almost 7 year old got this for x-mas and we just got around to opening it. So far he loves it. I agree with a few other reviews that the picture of your child doesn't exactly look like him/her. (for this reason i deducted one star in my rating) but you can customize face & hair features to get it pretty close. you can skip taking the picture all together and just use the facial editing to create the character.

overall we think this is pretty fun and are looking forward to seeing if they come up with any other themes. we would love to see a LEGO one!

When I saw this in the store, I thought it would be a great gift for my 6yo son and that he would be thrilled to see himself morph into a superhero in a coloring book; however, I was wrong! It gives you the option to upload a photo all for what?? You still have to edit the pic, as you would from scratch, and it looks nothing like your kid! The kid on the package (on the storybook cover) looks like himself in the coloring book, so figured it would be that easy. Also, he has a birthmark in his pic...where did that come from because I don't see an option on the site to add certain facial features, such as birthmarks. I wouldn't recommend this. For all that, I will stick to ordering personalized books with my son's name/pic in the story!

This product is not as easy as it seems to use.
My husband and I still can't figure out why upload the picture because after you do, you still need to "create" the child's face.

"Santa" brought one each for our 6 year old twins and they LOVE it! It's so creative. You upload a picture of your child and they are able to customize the coloring, facial expressions, accessories etc. Then they are able to totally create their own adventure or use the pre-loaded ones. It comes with all the paper, & crayons you need to print the comic book off and even includes the book bindings. I was very impressed with this.

I do want to comment on the review from the previous person. Yes, the comic book character doesn't really look like my child but they didn't really care. They customized it how they wanted it to look anyway. They also liked seeing their name in the comic book after it was printed.

We were so excited to create cool, personalized comic book coloring books for our friend's kids. We uploaded the picture and were extremely disappointed to see that the avatar looked NOTHING like our pic! The software just gives you a generic face and you select eyes, a nose, mouth, etc to make it look like your kid. No matter how long we played with it, it'll never look like the picture or like it does in the sample. It's cool that his name is in the book but we were very disappointed with the results.
