Comments about Namco Bandai Ace Combat Assault Horizon for Sony PS3:

I have played only 1 other ace combat game, AC5, and I have to say this one can't even compare to it. Previous AC games have stories based in an imaginary world but for some reason they decided to place this one in the real world which I believe was a huge mistake. In AC5 you are presented with this epic storyline that immediately pulls you in, it was simply amazing, you'll find yourself flying through tunnels, shooting down a giant sattellite, and navigating through radar fields, you also play as 1 person throughout the whole game who has become the leader of a squadron, you will grow to love all the characters and feel a connection to them. This one doesn't really have a grasping storyline, it just randomly throws you into battles and makes no sense, you take control of multiple people so you'll never feel connected to anyone. In AC5 you have the option of having help controlling your plane or having the freedom to completely control it allowing you to fly upside down and have a huge range of motion. In AC7 I can't turn off the assist and find myself locked flying straight down, when I'm flying it's very difficult to get the plane to turn. In AC5 you could shoot down a plane after you got a good lock on it. In this one it's pretty much impossible to shoot one down without using dogfighting mode which will fly the plane for you making it too easy. One of the things I will miss most from AC5 is the yes/no options you have during missions, people will ask you what to do and you can direct them by choosing yes or no which will effect the mission. I hate all the variety in the missions, I just want to fly planes, I don't want helicopters and all this [*], because of it you jump around from character to character, I feel like they're trying to copy COD which many people are sick of, they had something fun and made it their own then looked at numbers in the market instead of their fans and screwed it up, hopefully if there is an AC8 they will correct these horrible changes. Sorry to make this a comparison of the 2 games but I feel those of you who haven't played any of the previous games deserve to know that the series wasn't always like this, go out and buy AC5 for $12 because it is amazing and you will love it.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
