Horrendous Customer Service Experience w/order.

I ordered this toy online and selected "In Store Pickup". After 3 hours of placing my order, I chose to visit to local store to pick up a few items and possibly pickup my online purchase. My order was not ready, which was fine, and I bought the other items and told the nice associate I would return once my email was sent to me. Later in the afternoon, I became concerned that my toy would no longer be on the shelf. Therefore, at 3 PM, I phoned the local store to inquire about driving back to get my toy. After speaking to several stressed and somewhat rude associates, I was told they couldn't process my order because the order was still in the "system" and was not in a "ready for pickup" status. I then hung up and decided to go online to cancel my order - no option existed.

I then chose to call Customer Service and inquire about a cancellation. The VERY polite, sympathetic associate informed me that she could not cancel the order since was "in process". I told her I did not want to cancel the order; however, I was worried my toy would not be available by the time I got my email. I was wanting to cancel and then drive to the store for purchase. The Customer Service Associate said I could do that and let the order process complete and simply never pick up the toy. A refund would initiate after 5 days. I just did not feel right about doing that and did not understand an eight hour and counting lead time to process my electronic order. I apologized for my short tone and we completed our discussion without resolving my issue.

I finally got my "ready for pickup" email at 2:00 AM CST the following day (eighteen hours later). On my lunch break, I drove to the local store to pickup my toy. After presenting my receipt and driver's license, several associates and managers combed the store looking for my order. No one was able to locate it. I offered to walk back to the toy department and get it for which they declined - I just wanted this whole ordeal to end. Thirty minutes later an associate went back to the toy department and brought me the toy off the shelf.

In my opinion this is unacceptable. In no way does this conform to the advertised improved, streamlined customer experience touted on the website. If the toy I purchased was a popular "must have" toy, the odds of me having it today would likely be zero. Please learn from my experience Toys R Us. It will be quite some time, if ever, that I return to Toys R Us.

My one year old loves this toy. He walks around the house with it forever and it's fun to watch his cute dancing. The songs, however, are extremely annoying after hearing them for the hundredth time. I find the Ernie rap song to be particularly irritating. My son loves it though, so for now I plug my ears and enjoy his booty shaking :)

Once he figured out how to rotate the wheel to change the characters, my 2 year old was able to entertain himself with this toy on long car rides, in the grocery cart, and on a cross country airplane ride as well! He absolutely loves it!!! There are only 3 songs-- which I have memorized by now, but Cookie Monster's commentary in between the songs always cracks me up! The only reason I didn't give the product 4 stars is because a couple of times it's gotten stuck between 2 characters, or it's shown one character and played the song for a different one. When this happens my little guy loses it until we can fix it by jiggling the wheel around and pounding it on our hand to get it un-stuck. Otherwise, it's a great toy!
