This was a gift to my son on his second birthday. We were all so excited to see his reaction because his favorite make-believe character is Animal the drummer on the Muppets. He was thrilled to start playing his own drum. His excitement lasted 10 minutes. That's when the drum head broke. We tried again and the second head lasted about an hour longer. I can't believe Toys R Us actually sells this item. What a waste of money

I bought this at the store for my four year old. He was thrilled with it and the sound was good, but after a few minutes the drum head broke and my son was in tears. I came online to check the product reviews, and apparently the heads on this drum are guaranteed to break. I unscrewed all the hardware for the drum, hoping I could remove the head and replace it with something else, but you can't remove the wood holding it in place. I'll be returning this to the store with a copy of all the negative reviews and asking the manager to pull this off the shelves.

I purchased this drum for our granddaughter a few months ago and saved it for her 3rd birthday, which was today. We took it out of the box and she began drumming with the wooden drumsticks that came with the drum. Suddenly the surface of the drum shredded, just during normal activity! So we turned it over so she could drum on the other side, AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED!! We could not believe it! It appeared to be made very well. The fun times with this Imaginarium toy lasted about an hour, on her birthday. I do not have the receipt any longer, but it is a Toys R Us product, so I will be taking it back to my local store. If they cannot help me I will contact corporate. VERY DISAPPOINTING! This item had a manufacture date on the box of 5/2011.

Plain and simple the toy is JUNK! Son got it for his birthday, played with it for less than 5 minutes and the top ripped, flipped it over and in hit of the drumstick the other side was broken.
What a complete waste...I would never buy this again and would suggest no one else does either

I purchased this for my daughter and it broke the first day she got it. It is very cheaply made. For the price, I expected it to last more than 10 minutes.

My husband and I took our son to Toys R Us today to pick out a toy for his third birthday. The drum's construction appeared sound, and we were impressed that the body was made of real wood.
Our son was so excited to finally have a "real drum," and wanted to use it as soon as we got home. The first side broke within 2 minutes of what I'd consider to be reasonable use. The second side was gone a few moments later. I caught the whole thing on video, including my little birthday boy's crushing moment of realizing that his "best toy" was gone.
I wish I had read reviews on this product before buying it. Hopefully, we'll be able to return the item.
Bottom line: DON'T BUY THIS DRUM!!!

One would think that if you buy a drum, even if it is for a little child, you should be able to DRUM on it. Within 3 days, BOTH drum heads on both sides were broken. I thought they were plastic, but they were nothing more than thick paper -- which, irritatingly, CANNOT be replaced. It could not withstand the happy, constant, exaggerated banging from a 3 year old. It is a very cute and inviting toy but it should not have been marketed for 3 year old children.

Bought this for Christmas, broke within 20 minutes!!!! The other side broke within a week. I was watching my child and he was NOT being too rough. One side actually broke when he was walking by the drum and dropped one lego on it! Please dont waste your money!

I unfortunately bought 3 of these! 2 for gifts and 1 for my son. Ours was broken when he opened it Christmas morning and the other 2 broke immediately according to the other moms. I called them and they reluctantly told me they broke quite easily. Im going to see what can be done but not too optomistic. They should take this off the market
