My grandson lays the puzzles on the floor and starts pulling out different animals. He will bring them to us and calls out what he thinks the puzzle piece is, then he waves it around and calls out the color. He then goes back for more puzzle pieces and repeats the process. He is learning how to flip the puzzle piece to fit, but he knows exactly which puzzle which animal goes to. An exceptional value that will last.

We gave these to our 2 year old for Christmas and she LOVES them! Since they are thick, it took her a little while to figure them out but does them like a pro on her own now. Great product!

We got this item free through another purchase. Sturdy, thick foam pieces. The animal shapes are moderately intricate. My 6-yr old likes dinosaurs and several of the pieces are dinos, so he was very happy. You can also stand up the puzzle animal pieces and create a little zoo of sorts. Good for imaginative play.

The puzzle pieces are quite detailed. My 6 yr old liked the dinosaurs and animals. He likes puzzles in general. You can also stand the animals up and create a little zoo of sorts. Soft toy, so good for younger kids as well.

We picked a set of these up at our local store. We have one of those interlocking foam play mats, and our little one was always taking it apart, so when we saw these foam animal shapes, we hoped she would like them too --- and she does! She happily crawls over to them and points at the animals and pulls them out, and likes to play with the creatures out of the foam backdrops, too.

There are four different groupings of animals: farm animals (rabbit, cow, pig, cat, dog, rooster, duck, horse, etc.), "safari"/wild animals (giraffe, rhino, gorilla, elephant & baby, lion, etc.), water animals (crocodile, ray, octopus, squid, starfish, crab, etc.) and dinosaurs/prehistoric creatures (your typical assortment of T-rex-type, apatosaurus-type, ceratopsid-type, etc.). There are a LOT of creatures in each grouping, and she likes to take them out and put them back in place. We also play with them separately, and talk about the animals' names, their colors, and the sounds they make. We have also used them as stencils with crayons, and in the bathtub, too.

They are nice shapes as well - the squid is awesome! - but some of them may not be instantly recognizable, which may or may not matter to you. Also, younger kids may have a little trouble pushing the animals out of the backdrops as the foam is thick; we got this when our little one was 10 months old, and she needed a little help (we'd push the animals a bit of the way out to get her started).

Note: because it is foam (but a nice quality), I would definitely recommend keeping an eye on your little one if he or she likes to bite things apart. Ours only has two teeth and isn't so into mouthing everything anymore, but a friend's child has a lot of teeth, and was able to make some bitemarks in them. So, though they are thick and made well, do still watch that pieces aren't bitten off and swallowed!

Overall, though, she really does like these, and will sit and play quietly for a while - well, a while for a one-year-old, that is!
