I purchased this seat as it was one of the lightest ones in weight because I do a lot of travelling by air (between Europe and the US) and in rental cars with my toddler alone, and didn't want to handle a too heavy one (no, there are no metal reinforcements, but the seat is still highly rated for safety by Consumer Reports). This seat is great for travelling a lot as it is very light and VERY EASY to INSTALL; and I do a lot of installing and uninstalling in rentals and family members' cars; and no - I am not a bodybuilder or gym-mom, I'm 110lbs and 5'2". The seat DOES NOT SLIDE around as I've read in some ratings, neither on my cloth seat nor my husband's leather seats (when correctly installed by latch sytem). I cannot get it to be as still when I install it with the seatbelt though, but luckily I don't have to very often.
The seat DOES have 2 hooks for the cars' latch system, and a 3rd one on top when using forward facing.
It is also a small seat compared with others and fits perfectly in my Honda Civic (forward and backwards facing); it also fit forward facing into many smaller sized rentals before (e.g. Toyota Yaris) and smaller European cars. I have not tried it backwards facing in rentals.
The seat's cloth is easily cleaned with a damp rag. If it needs more than that, the cover comes off effortless and can be thrown in the washer and dryer.
The cup/snack holder that comes with the seat is handy.
I have not had any issues with unbuckling the carseat's buckle, yet my mother is hardly ever able to unbuckle it without breaking her nails. I don't know how she does it. There are always 2 sides to a story.
A bad thing about this seat is that my toddler's head does slump down when he's napping (forward facing only, backwards facing it's laying down more and we never had that issue). I wish it had a recline option. We may purchase a different seat with recline option (one that I won't take on travels with me) just for that reason.
Otherwise this seat is comfortable and I recommend it.

Since all carseats have to meet the same safety standards, we figured we would start out with a lower priced seat. You can really tell the difference though! We ended up buying a Britax Marathon for our 2nd carseat and it is a huge difference in comfort and function. While the seat functions as it should as a carseat, the fabric is cheap and soils easily and it has practically no padding (though my son has never complained). As the other poster said, the seat is all plastic but I knew that before I bought it. My biggest complaint is that the harness slide (what you adjust to get in/out of the seat) and the clips can be a struggle (though, changing the slot of the restraint helped). Since we put him in or out at least twice a day, it gets really frustrating.

However, I find this carseat to be no harder to install than my Britax and I get it tight with either the seatbelt (we had to use when in the center seat) or the latch. When using the seatbelt this was actually easier than a Britax and no less secure. I'm not sure what the other poster is talking about re: the latch. My Evenflo Titan carseat has two latch connectors for each lower side, and a third, separate strap which is the tether for the top. Perhaps she was using the tether as the lower latch; which I imagine was a dangerous setup. I find the instructions to be clear and easy to follow. It is also easy to remove the seat cover for machine-washing though as I said the fabric is cheap and it shows after washing.

Bottom Line: I don't think my son can tell the difference between his two carseats. This is a good, budget option, but if you want to make your life a little easier and can spend more, find something that has smoother adjustments. I'd recommend only with these caveats.

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Evenflo Titan Elite Convertible Car Seat - Dunlap:

My daughter is 4 mo and we purchased 2 of these one for my husband's truck (ford f-150 4door) and my Mother's suburban as a second and third carseat. For the price you can't beat it! Our daughter sits comfortable in it in the backward facing position. The recline bar is nice but for long trips we prefer to use a rolled towel up under the seat for more of a recline. My mother and I recently took a 3 hour car trip and my Daughter slept comfortably in this seat. Above all I feel that this seat is safe and comfortable. Very easy to install! Extremely light-weight compared to most convertibles. My husband switches the seat back and forth between his 2 trucks often and never once has complained about it being a pain : ) oh and one more thing the straps are nice and broad but my favorite thing about it is that the 5-point harness seems very sturdy ( many other seats I have looked at the latches were flimsy). Hope this helps!

I have got to say I am thankful this carseat works as well as it does. My husband and son were in a serious accident which someone hit them on their side. My husband was hurt pretty bad a my son didn't have a scratch on him. It isn't the top of the line but, it did its job. When I went for the replacement I bought another.

We bought this about a year ago and now have to buy a different. Every time we get my daughter out of it she has a red mark half way up her back from where the foam stops and her spine rubs on it. It stays that way for a few hours. She doesn't complain, but it concerns me. She has grown considerably and is close to needing another seat anyway.

I am about to buy my 4th one of these car seats for my 4th child. Sure they are not the fanciest seats, but they work well and I have never heard a complaint from any of my kids & we have taken LONG car trips in them. They are super easy to adjust and install and I have thrown them in the washer to clean without any problems before!

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Evenflo Titan Elite Convertible Car Seat - Dunlap:

we've had one of these for over 3 years now, buying a second to replace an old one in the other car. I am baffled by the 1st reviewer's comment about LATCH - ours certainly has a latch hook for either side of the seat, plus the standard tether strap.

my only initial dislike was the positioning of the leg straps on my small child, but he grew into it quickly enough (certainly while rear facing).

We really like these seats. We bought four of them for our twins. They fit decent rear facing in our Grand Prix's (as well as any rear facing car seat in a car). The kids seem plenty comfy on long car rides and their heads stay supported while sleeping. Recently we flipped them forward facing and we still love em. We would buy them again.

We just bought this car seat for our 1yr old. I think it is well worth it's money. We went with this seat because it was mid price range and had all the features that we wanted. The straps are SO easy to change! I struggled with his last seat adjusting the harness straps, this seat literally took me 5 mins to do both the crotch straps and the harness straps! There was one review that said that they didn't like how you had to thread the hooks through the back of it to place it in their vehicle. I personally like this feature because it means that it is only one strap that you have to tighten. We have not installed the seat in the car yet, so possibly I will change my mind, but I like simple things and this seat seems very simple to install! :)
