There have been many releases of the Millennium Falcon over the years - we had a midi-scale version in 2009, and this was preceded by the UCS version in 2007. This is on top of earlier releases, which may cause the casual observer to remark "not another Millennium Falcon!" Despite this however, it's prudent to remember that the last actual mini-figure version of the Falcon (excluding the UCS one, which let's face it, was way out of most people's budget) was released in 2004 (set 4504) - 7 years ago - and having missed out on that one, I, for one, have been eagerly awaiting the release of another similar version - and so, here it is. And the verdict? Just one word : magnificent. Minifigures One glance and you realise that this version is based on episode IV - A New Hope as opposed to 4504 which was based on episode V. In all, you get 6 minifigures - including Chewbacca who is extremely rare and a major plus for the set. To summarise, what you see is pretty much what you get, apart from Luke and Leia who both have double-sided heads and hence, alternate expressions. I have to say that I'm not sure why Vader has been included in this set - a would have thought the additions of C3-PO and R2-D2 would have been more appropriate if this were being true to the film. Overall though, a good selection given the rarity of some of these figures. 8/10. Build The pieces come in numbered bags, (1-6 - although there are more than 6 bags) so finding the relevant pieces are made much easier. I have to say that this was a very enjoyable build. The base of the falcon is built first (bag 1). Once this is done, the interior details are added (bag 2), followed by the walls (bags 3 and 4). the top (bag 5) and finally the cockpit and front section (bag 6). I don't have the 2004 version, but on appearance, I suspect that the build could be very similar and so, the building experience may not be so enjoyable for those who do own set 4504. There are some stickers that need to be added, which is a down side since it would not be unreasonable to expect printed bricks given the price of this set. Overall, the build will take anywhere between 4-5 hours, but the final result is aesthetically pleasing and I would say a more accurate depiction of the falcon than 4504. 9/10 Design Again, this may be a little difficult to assess given that I suspect the design has been loosely based on 4504. However, since I can't make an accurate comparison given that I don't own 4504, I will have to assess the design based on the assumption that this is an original set. I have to say that I love it. Yes, there are some "holes" in the falcon - predominantly between the walls and floor of the ship, and also between the plates that make up the "roof", but I really don't see how the designers could have done any better unless new moulds/pieces had been created. This aside however, it's very difficult to find fault. Playability is excellent - and attention to detail first class. All the details you see in the movie - the hyperdrive, smuggling compartment, chess board, lightsaber training area and "gunners stations" have all been included, and yet despite this, there's still plenty of room inside the falcon. If there's one major flaw in the design, it would have to be the underside of the falcon - it's a little ugly - but that can be forgiven. 9/10 Pricing This set is expensive - very expensive. I have to say though that it is worth the price - this is an excellent build and one that will not disappoint. As an aside however, I will say this - if I had 4504, I would not have bought this set. Even after building this set, I still stand by that statement. Despite it's excellence, it's similarities to it's predecessor makes it hard to justify the cost if you already own the earlier set. 7/10 Problems Aside from the look of the underside of the falcon, the only other major gripe I have is the lack of retractable landing gear. To be perfectly honest, it looks clumsy. In summary, this is an excellent set - and a great opportunity for those who missed out on 4504. I have absolutely no regrets about this set, which could be a real contender for "Lego set of the year". Of course, it's a little early to be making that judgement - I still have the Pet Shop and Diagon Alley to collect - so I guess time will tell. 9/10

Of all my many Lego sets, this one is the first 'real' disappointment, which is doubly disappointment considering it's one of my favorite iconic ship designs from Star Wars. I waited forever to get this, and after a pretty challenging 5 hours, I was finished building it. When you see it sitting on a table, it looks great. It looks like the Millennium Falcon, albeit a bit smaller. A good indicator of the scale is in the cockpit. The real Falcon easily accommodated four people in the cockpit, this model has a very hard time fitting two. The instructions show you how to only put Han in, but a Falcon cockpit with Chewie in there is a crime, so I made it work. The minifigs are cool, although I was surprised that for the price you don't get 8. Particularly absent are R2D2 and C3PO, and yeah they're easily acquired in the escape pod set, but I didn't really want that set in the first place. Some cool touches inside, like the holographic game table and jedi training area. I also liked the little beds, if that's what they're supposed to be. The finished product, however, is pretty heavy and unwieldy to play with. An adult can fly it around with two hands, but it's not uncommon for pieces to fall off. If you give it to a kid, be prepared to rebuild plenty. The opening panels are a nice touch for getting inside, but they have to be closed in a specific order. I'm not sure what I'll end up doing with it; probably try to hang it from my ceiling and hope it doesn't fall on someone's head.

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon (7965):

Overall this was a pretty good build. Its quite beefy and sturdy but not super fond of the cockpit area, or the way the top angular pieces intersect with one another.Seems kind of basic design. The rest of the ship however is really nice and pretty accurate. The price is fairly high for the amount of pieces in this set, but then again, its the Millenium Falcon :)

Very realistic. Looks just like it did in the Star Wars films. The flaps that open so you can get inside are nice, but come off pretty easily. The minifigs are nice too.

WHY ARTOO OR THREEPIO???

By ggtube

from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon (7965):

This set is pretty good, I have to say. mostly because it's pretty accurate (not as much as the UCS I heard). It's also a fun set to play with and I like the idea of folding it open so you can play with it. The bad thing was the minifigs. Obviously this is a set with the setting in episode 4 of Star Wars and so it comes with Obi-Wan "Ben" Kenobi and Darth Vader for their little duel on the Death Star. So now to the bad part, where is Artoo and Threepio?!??! If this was from episode 4 where are the dynamic duo? Other than that, it's a good set.

Millennium Falcon

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon (7965):

This is a good set for play and aesthetics. They nailed the round edge and the opening roof. It came with a wide selection of minifigures and their weapons. Pros: -Wide range of minifigures, including, for some reason, Darth Vader. -Storage under the floor panels -Roof can open in sections -Accurate to the actual thing Cons: -Landing gear cannot fold up -Cockpit can only just fit Han and Chewie, and keeps detaching itself from the model

The 2011 set is by no ...

By iReckon

from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon (7965):

The 2011 set is by no means LEGO’s definitive take on the Millennium Falcon, but it is much more affordable than its huge, ultimate collector’s edition, and a much better model than any of its other small and mid-scale incarnations. Despite its hull being speckled with incongruous shades of Republic burgundy, the ship is the spit of its silver screen self, both inside and out. Arguably the interior is even more impressive than the familiar exterior as it boasts a whole host of movie-authentic features, such as the holographic ‘chess’ board and under-floor hiding spaces, while offering astonishing 360degrees playability. Every panel of the ship’s hull opens out, offering full and easy access to the many goodies inside. Themed around the original Star Wars movie’s ‘Death Star escape’ sequence, the set comes with a fantastic array of minifigures: Han Solo, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Darth Vader. Many of these have been tweaked for added realism since they were last seen - Leia’s face and hair are more expressive, Han’s trousers are the right colour, and Luke has finally shed his girly locks in favour of a more redolent 70s-style mop. Luke and Obi-Wan are multi-purpose too - a spin of Luke’s head and a swap of hair for helmet gives you the blind, remote-battling Jedi wannabe; a swap of grey hair for hood gives you sneaky old Ben. I'm definitely glad I was able to catch the last one on the shelf at my local Toys R Us. Im a huge lego and Star Wars fan and so it was a must to buy this item. I built it the same day I bought it and have no regrets. The mini figs and playability is amazing. It's a little over priced but still well worth it. I would recommend this item to my friends if it wasn't out of stock already.
