    Please be aware that this will not work with the Figure 8 expansion set. It's not clearly stated, but this set only comes with 3" curves whereas the expansion set assumes 6" curves. This also means the curves on this set are very tight, meaning the longer trains won't work well.

    I had considered buying the 5 in 1 layout set, but bought this instead because it included the cars. Whereas they sell plenty of Thomas engines at the store, they did not have any box cars or cabooses and such. Those were only available in these sets.

    Very disappointed.

    My 1.5 and 3.5 received this for Christmas, and the way the bridge fits together is kind of frustrating for them. They push too hard when driving the trains, and the bridge collapses towards the middle where the two pieces connect together. We have another bridge from a different brand that's similar, only it's one solid piece. They play with that one more often.

          Got this for our almost 2 yr old & he loves it.

          It did seem a little expensive, but to say it shouldn't be considered a "wooden toy" is a little much I think.

          Quality is great.

          For the price you get a cool gate house, Thomas & 2 other train pieces, and the rest. So for him this was his first Thomas and a simple track that we can lay out a bunch of different ways.

          Can't wait to expand it with other pieces.

          MY ONLY GRIPE would be that the gate is pretty hard to open/close so it's going to be a while before my kid can operate it. Other than that, love this set.

                This should no longer be considered a "wooden" toy. Compared to the old Thomas wooden stuff, this is much more expensive, and MUCH lower quality. I couldn't be more disappointed.
