Since 1930, Fisher-Price has been in business to create toys that fascinate and stimulate a child's imagination. Fisher-Price was founded in 1930, hardly the best time to launch a new business as the shadows of the Depression still loomed over American business. Still, Herman Fisher, Irving Price and Helen Schelle combined their diverse manufacturing and retailing experience to create a toy company and confidently brought 16 wooden toys to the International Toy Fair in New York City. The whimsical nature and magical surprises of those first Fisher-Price toys quickly caught on and became the hallmarks of Fisher-Price ever since. Fisher-Price believes in the potential of children and in the importance of a supportive environment in which they can grow, learn, and get the best possible start in life. Fisher-Price supports today's families with young children through our breadth of products that includes GeoTrax, Imaginext, Little People, Laugh and Learn, Thomas the Tank, Thomas and Friends, Elmo, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Sesame Street, Smart Cycle, Ni Hao Kai-Lan, Toy Story and other learning toys and pretend play items.

We have special needs children, they will be 3 or 4 their whole lives, because of this it is very hard to find a toy they like AND actually play with. Add to that the fact that whilst they are developmentally 3 they are actually 12 yrs old so needless to say they are very rough on toys, especially when they become frustrated..let me tell you this toy is fantastic, it holds their attention, has taught them many things..countless things really and it "bounces" well.lol! I am SO glad FP brought it back this year ..the only gripe..i wish they had cartridges for the "slightly" older crowd.. kids need more to learn besides the ABC, 123.. i could think of tons of stuff they could add...but alas we do still think it is an amazing toy..oh ..ok one more gripe..i wish WE could lock in the volume setting..perhaps inside the battery compartment or something..daytime use doesnt bother me but they love to use it in bed and boy it is loud after a while..not damaging..just too much is all..

- It's really an "old" style toy adapted for a iDevice world and interaction

- The common gripe seems to be the screen is dark - and it is. It's not a backlit screen. But, for the proper audience, it's not a bad choice.

The catch is deciding if it is worth the price as it is only halfway to an InnoTab or LeapPad, but, it might be a bit more limited.

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Learn Through Music Touchpad:

It was hard to find toys for my daughter, who was almost 2 last Christmas so when I saw this, I was excited but she hardly played with it and it still sits on her bookshelf. Every once in awhile she will pick it up but it just doesn't keep her interest. She uses the microphone on the screen plus the cord for the microphone is very short. When she does talk into the microphone, you cannot hear her.

I thought for sure she would love this due to the music and learning aspects. She NEVER plays with it. You have to continuously hold the red button on the mic and have to have your lips ON it to make it work. There really aren't any learning games..she was bored - or maybe too advanced for it,who knows. the advertising made it sound great - it's not

First of all, I'd like to say that my product was shipped very fast considering I only paid for standard shipping. My daughters (2 and 4) play with it daily. They've already learned all the songs, so they can sing along on the microphone. I can't wait to buy some extra software to go with it! Thank you!!

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Learn Through Music Touchpad:

When I first saw this toy after the dust (read: wrapping paper) settled in my living room a couple weeks ago, I was perplexed. This toy is very low-tech considering the price. When I saw in the commercials that it was a touchpad, I assumed it was more computer-like, like the InnoTab or the new LeapPad systems that look like video games. Instead, we ended up with this old school contraption that looks like it's lit up with Lite Brite pegs, sounds like a future of hearing loss and comes with a microphone attached like those little cassette players kids had in the 90s.

Like others have said, this toy is not lit up from the back, and although my son and I haven't had any major problems navigating this toy due to the screen's darkness, I can see how other people may have issues with it. The only light comes from the little sensor bulbs that are behind the cartridge.

The bigger problem I have with this toy is the volume. THIS is the toy that makes parents vow to never buy their kids anything battery-operated. Even on "low" this toy can be heard across the house; I can't imagine that the volume of this toy could be safe for a kid's hearing.

That said (and much to the chagrin of my poor eardrums), my son loves this toy and plays with it constantly. He doesn't use the microphone part often, but he does sing along with the songs, etc. Would I buy this product? Probably I'd just spend the extra $20 and get something digital that I thought would keep his interest in the longterm.

My Grandson has a speach problem, and I figured if he carries this around and talks into it, it would help him develope his speach pattern, learn to pronounce words correctly and try to talk more. He started using this product as soon as he opened it. Sure hope it helps.

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Learn Through Music Touchpad:

My son got this for Christmas, and I was super excited about it. He loves music and responds really well to touchpads. I feel like Fisher Price cheapened out on this product. The screen is NOT backlit like it shows on the photos or even on the packaging of the product. Very dark screen and is only lit by yellow bulbs behind it. It is a touchpad, however its functions are not as REALLY limited and not at all as I would have expected. Honestly, reminds me of a toy from the 80s and aside from it, I don't think its a great learning toy what so ever. I was just overall not impressed and would not recommend to others to buy.

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Learn Through Music Touchpad:

While toys r us had this priced well below the cheapest of it's competitors, it is still very over priced. The screen is way too dark. It sounds like it could break any second when switching screens. And came with no directions. So basically it's just something for my child to press buttons on until I have the time to teach myself how to use it, then teach it to him. He plays with it about once a week, 10 minutes at a time. Total waste of money. Only wish I hadn't gotten rid of the box. Toys r us is really picky about returns vs their competitors. I'd say it's worth $25 at the most.
