I put this monitor on my registry in the store, so I didn't get the chance to read the reviews beforehand. I picked it up from the store, super excited, about 6 hours ago. It is already back in the box to go back tomorrow. We were not able to get the app to work, just like everyone else. We were able to log on to the internet but there was a minute delay. I could snap a pic on my phone and text/email to my family in a much shorter amount of time than that. The monitor itself worked worked fine. It is a stationary camera, you can't zoom or pan. For half the price you can get a monitor that pans, zooms, and you can talk to your baby through the monitor. I can see this being a great product in several years once they get all the kinks worked out (and upgrade the camera) but it is not a good product right now.

Got this as a babyshower gift. So far had no problems with it. Good quality picture during the day light as well as during the night. Easy to assemble. Very easy to connect and disconnect, we always take it with us to our summer house. Has very long wire, which gives you enough length to put it whereever you need it. I like the iPhone feature- very comfortable, so you don't have to carry or look for the monitor all the time. The only bad thing about this monitor is that the picture sometimes freezes but then goes back to normal- not a big deal.

First off...I have researched traditional baby monitors as well as WIFI cameras such as the Dropcam. Ultimately my wife and I settled on this unit because it satisfied what we both wanted, more traditional for her and the ability to watch from PC or smartphones for me. That being said, I took the unit out of the box and followed the instructions step by step to ensure that I didnt miss anything since I read some reviews that leaned negative toward set up, but for me it was a breeze. 3 power plugs and a Ethernet cable and I was rocking with audio and video. Set-up is as simple as it gets.

The handheld is built somewhat "lightweight" so I wouldnt want to drop it any significant distance, seems it would shatter easily, but for my wife it is simple. Large menu button to add/delete cams as well as adjusting screen brightness. It also has solid key buttons on either side. One for the power and the other for the volume. The unit was picking up quite a bit of background static but that might be due to it running next to my range finder which runs 2.4ghz as well.

The camera itself is also fairly straightforward. Has power button on back. Can be mounted on wall or just sat on a flat level surface. The base swivels so there are a multitude of viewing angles to put the camera in. Video itself was decent. Def not 1080HD but could see everything that I had sitting around me at set up. Just dont expect to see the same feed as you would on a tv or smartphone. Nightvision looked great.

I noticed when I was able to connect through the website and the APP (Summer Infant) that htere was video lag between both. For instance the handheld was nearly real time, probably less than a half second lag, however the APP had about a 3 second lag and the PC site had about a 6 second lag. Realistically though this shouldnt pose a problem as those features will only be used to "look in" and not as a traditional baby monitor. The handheld itself is plenty sufficient for that.

Cons, Not really cons as much as features it lacks:
* Two way sound (being able to talk through the video camera itself)
* Pan, tilt, zoom features
* Not aware of any recording capability.
* APP is not very attractive, but I am a smartphone geek so may not be an issue for most.
*Initially had issues logging into the APP with the password I set up the first two times (which is an issue that most people cited on Google Play) however I was able to log in and have had no other issues.

We needed a video monitor to replace the one I'd received as a baby shower gift, which was on its last legs. In particular, we were looking for dual-purpose monitor which would enable us to monitor our baby over our iPhones, in addition to using a handheld monitoring unit. We thought this type of monitoring system would enable the babysitter to keep an eye on our sleeping daughter with the handheld unit at home, and we could check on the baby while we were out for the evening.

We've only had this monitor for a few days, but so far, it has performed as expected. The video and audio are pretty clear. And although all the component parts of the Peek Plus feel much lighter and more "plasticky" (flimsier) than those of our previous video monitor, all the hardware seems mechanically sound and functions normally. We haven't yet had occasion to use the internet or iPhone monitoring very much thus far, but the few times we've tried to view our daughter on the internet and on our iPhones, the system worked just fine. No problems with logging in or error messages.

Although our Peek Plus has performed satisfactorily at its basic functions, if you're looking for the proverbial "bells-and-whistles," then this is NOT the video monitor for you. Unlike many single-purpose (handheld unit only) video monitors, the Peek Plus lacks a number of functions that can make life easier for parents, such as:

- a temperature gauge (for making sure the nursery isn't too hot or cold;
- a vox or intercom feature to enable parents to talk to and comfort their babies without actually entering the nursery;
- a music feature that parents can turn on remotely to help calm fussy babies and soothe them to sleep.

The Peek Plus handheld unit only allows you to adjust the volume and the brightness of the video, and that's it. Same with the Summer Infant iPhone app and website.

For such a bare-bones monitoring system, the Peek Plus is surprisingly expensive. For the high pricetag, I definitely expected more than we got. Then again, the Summer Infant Peek Plus is one of only 2 dual-purpose video monitors on the market that have internet/smartphone monitoring capabilities in addition to a handheld unit. The other one is the Mobicam DL, which has a clunky Skype interface for monitoring via internet/smartphone, and which has even more negative reviews than the Peek Plus. All the other video monitors either have only handheld units without remote monitoring capability, or are strictly internet/smartphone monitors withoug and handheld unit. Granted, the Peek Plus isn't the fanciest video monitor on the block, but until a more full-featured dual-purpose video monitor comes along, the Peek Plus will remain the only viable option for parents like us.

We were really excited when this product came out as we were registering for our first baby. The idea of just being able to use our smart phones instead of carrying around a separate device was appealing. However, it doesn't always work, and we ended up having to upgrade our internet service so the picture wasn't delayed. And we also bought a separate audio monitor as "back-up" when this monitor wasn't working correctly. So it ended up costing us ALOT more in the end. I would not recommend this product.

I love this monitor, but not long after purchasing, the internet viewing options stopped working. I'm not able to view from my computer, iPhone, or iPad. I've contacted Summer Infant, but I have low expectations based on other reviews. This is now nothing more than a basic video monitor. I feel awful that someone purchased this at full price from our registry.

I use this product for my infant and we had some issues with the monitor and camera syncing. Summer infant provided the WORST customer service I have ever received with a baby product. I have been waiting a month for a reply from them after sending them an unquiry and they were rude on the phone and unable to help me solve the issue. I would not purchase another thing from them. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE for their product that did not work properly. Stay away from Summer Infant products.

We are very disappointed.
The image is too small, no zoom and we can`t move the camera.
But ok.

What is not ok is that we cannot use the app in iPhone and Android. I worked just for the first time and now we just keep getting the message "failed to login. Please try again. The rate in the app reviews are horrible, so it`s not just with us, unfortunately.

Also, the image in the computer is very poor and if the camera isn`t too close and the ligths on, we almost can`t see what`s happening.

DO NOT BUY!

We were excited to have found this online...set up was fast, however service was incrediably unreliable. Multiple times we received "login failures" due to timing out and continuous errors stating email/passworeds were wrong (and then several days later, it would work again). Gave Summer Infant several phone calls with no help what-so-ever. The IPhone app worked once...we even waited 2 weeks during the whole "app update" mishap many were complaining about...we returned it and went with a different wifi monitor!

I have been using this product about 3 weeks and love it. I tried another less expensive product (with a sensor pad) and hated it (Tommy Tippee).
This product was easy to install, taking me about 10 minutes to mount the camera to the nursery wall. There is plenty of cord length so there was versatility with respect to placement. My husband set up the internet view feature in about 5 minutes. I like the remote access feature (available through a website with a smart phone app)- which gave me the confidence to "peek in" on my sleeping baby when I had to leave him with a sitter. I will be purchasing a secondary camera (which supposedly can be linked to the first camera) so I can view other parts of the room, and not just the crib.

The only negative is when monitoring unit is unplugged, the battery doesn't last more than a few hours. Also, I keep the unit plugged in next to my bed at night, and I haven't figured out how to darken the screen. I have to put a cloth over the screen or else it creates too much ambient light in the room. I do also wish the camera swiveled in four directions, and not just two.
