To be able to understand why LEGO has been successful for so long, just look to the name. LEGO originally got its name from founder Ole Kirk Christiansen who combed the Danish words "Leg Got" which means "play well". He later realized that LEGO in Latin translates to "I put together." The LEGO set became a standard of creative play for children worldwide, unlocking the creativity to build vehicles, buildings, cities and more. Historians point to the invention of the wheel as a major turning point in world history. The invention of the LEGO wheel had the same monumental effect in the history of LEGO, making it possible to create cars, trucks and eventually the LEGO train building set that is one of the most successful LEGO sets of all time. LEGO currently produces about 20 billion LEGO bricks a year and has sold over 400 billion LEGOs in their history -- enough for every person on the planet to have over 60 LEGOs each!

This is one of the better battle packs to come out thus far, right up there with 2007's Rebel Trooper pack. The speeder is solidly built, and features both a dual laser cannon and missile launchers. Sadly, the flick-fire missiles are pretty difficult to fire. Also, the speeder does house a removable equipment crate, kind of a cool (if not pointless) detail. Of course, this set is about the minifigs, which are pretty outstanding. The pilot features a new, more detailed torso piece, and flight goggles are printed on the face (a great touch!). The Echo troopers in this set are more authentic-looking than all previous releases. However, this is now the 3rd vastly different Echo trooper design that LEGO has released, which is annoying as this makes all previous Echo troopers obsolete. Also, the new hats look very cool with the goggles on top of the brim, but downright stupid with the goggles dropped over the face. If you can get past these inconsistencies, a great kit and beautiful addition to anyone's Hoth battle, Echo squad, or purist collection!

This set is good and all, but it is overpriced and can only be enjoyed at all if you buy it with the snowtrooper battle pack. I paid 24$ for the two sets together and i must say these sets are extreemly overpriced. The two sets should be 7$ each not 12$. I will leave the rest of the reveiw to the Pros. and Cons. Pros. very rare mini figs Cool gun storage on vehicle Cons. Way overpriced Small and unsturdy Only buy when you have nothing better to buy

Frozen Rebel Fun!

By captainamerica

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Rebel Trooper Battle Pack (8083):

Another great troop builder in the Lego Star Wars line. I'll start with the two minor criticisms I have for the set. The first, which is an obvious criticism, is the tank that comes with the set isn't seen in the StarWars movies, but there's a long history of StarWars toys that aren't seen on screen. The second is the pilot minifig: Zev Sanesca, which is included in another set. I found this to be somewhat disappointing and was really hoping Lego would have printed a new design on the pilot helmet for this set or included a unique protocol or astromech droid instead. Looking past those minor flaws is easy, though, because the rest of the squad is so great! The 2 rebel troops and the rebel officer are each equipped with backpacks and blasters and are ready to defend ECHO base! A really good addition to any Lego Star Wars collection.

This is great! It is the cheapest set with rebels and goes great with my At-At. The guy with the mustach looks like he is screaming though. Both of the rebel troopers are made of the exact same parts. Nice battle pack with 4 flick fire missles and rare parts. The only thing I would change would be having 1 snowtrooper and switch one of the rebel troopers for Luke Skywalker.

Great army builder or stocking stuffer

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Rebel Trooper Battle Pack (8083):

This set has great playability, the price is ok,and has a really fun build. I had revieved this set for my birthday, and it only took me a few minutes to build. Only owning a few original trilogy sets (im more into clone wars) I still enjoyed this set as an army builder for my rebels. now for the parts you care about. MINIFIGURES: The set included two regular hoth/snow troopers both having new (or atleast new when the set came out) torsos with jackets and great little details, and the new helmets the allow you to have the goggles on the head or over the eyes which is really cool. the next figure was the rebel snow officer which had a different face, torso, and legs. The set also included a rebel pilot which did have a new torso. VEHICLE: The set includes a small speeder with a blaster turret and two flick fire missiles it may only seat one minifigure (i use the pilot). PROS: 4 minifigs cool speeder new helmets and torso CONS nothing big but the pilot seems a little out of place RATING: overall: 8.9/10 playability: 9/10 value for money 9/10 please remember to rate :D

Good stuff

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Rebel Trooper Battle Pack (8083):

Purchased this item recently to help fill out my Hoth display. I had loads of Imperial troops after buying the AT-AT Walker and the Hoth Echo Base sets, so I needed some Rebel troops to man the turrets. On to the review: MINIFIGS: Hoth Rebel Troopers-(2)-the minifigs have full printing on both sides of the torso, and the helmets are far improved, with spots for the goggles to go on the cap, or over the eyes. They also look pretty upset that they are about to eat some AT-AT cannon fire. Hoth Rebel Officer-(1)-same as above, but with a different color scheme, and the head has a mustache, raised eyebrow, and smirk. The head printing looks a little weird, and I don't like it, but that's my opinion. Zev Senesca-Sigh....hasn't this guy been in like three sets now? I already had him from the Wampa Cave set. Can't we get someone else? Dack Ralter or Wedge Antilles perhaps? Can we please have some forward thinking? Otherwise, fully printed on the torso front and back, decent printing on the helmet, and a visor/chinstrap printed head, which is nice. FEATURES: Not much to say about features. The "tank" is not canon, but includes two flick-fire missiles on either side, an open container(needs a top), and a turret that moves up and down(but doesn't swivel), and a deck for a minifig to stand on. I was wrong about one thing-When I said that no vehicle will fit through the docking bay door of the Hoth Echo Base set, this vehicle does, so it looks cool sitting in the entrance waiting for the AT-AT to destroy it. BUILD: The build was extremely easy, and took around 6-7 minutes to build. Great for younger children to build, with supervision due to the small parts. VALUE: While I think the army builder sets are great, the price tag is a bit high for what you get. 4 figs and one small vehicle? It should be around 5 dollars less. You can get a much larger vehicle or playset with around three times the pieces, and around the same amount of minifigs(if not more) for only twice the price(See Geonosian Starfighter/Luke's Landspeeder/Ewok Attack/Imperial V-wing Starfighter/The Battle of Naboo sets). All in all, if you need the minifigs for display, it's definitely worth it. It's also great for younger Lego fans who will have a good time putting it together as it is easy and fun. Buy it before it is discontinued.

The Perfect Gift For Any LEGO Fan!

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Rebel Trooper Battle Pack (8083):

This was the second ever Star Wars LEGO set my 6 year old got, and he really had fun putting the small vehicle together and loved having so many NEW Minifigures to play with. The build itself is very straightforward, the play value comes with the large number of Minifigures that are the start of an "Army" complete with tiny weapons. Even if your child isn't old enough to watch or understand Star Wars movies, they will still get great play value from this small set. [Pros] Lots of wonderful LEGO Minifigures A nice start to any LEGO Star Wars Collection Stands alone from other sets as a great play set [Cons] Lots of small parts that have a habit of going missing if you aren't careful. Overall -- A great set for a birthday gift for a child, or to add to any LEGO Star Wars collection. Pure Fun!

A Good Set for Building an Army!

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Rebel Trooper Battle Pack (8083):

I got this set for my birthday and I really liked it, but there are some cons to this set. Pros. A good amount of minifigs. A good price. Maybe the tank. Cons. The commander's head looks like Zev Sensca's Grandpa. The turret's handles hit the driver in the face.

Another Poor Battle Pack

By TheLegoJournalist

from Leawood

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Rebel Trooper Battle Pack (8083):

Here it is, the 2010 Star Wars Battle Pack. As you know, each series has a Battle Pack where there is one point:to build an army. The Battle Packs are designed to offer a lot of characters and maybe a small base or vehicle for a cheap price, usually$10-12. However, through the years, the quality of Battle Packs have severely diminished. This set portrays that statement perfectly. After a short and unsatisfying build, I realized this set is nothing more than just poor. In the past, there has not been many Rebel Troopers included in sets, so you probably are not buying this set to increase the size of your Rebel Trooper army. Likewise, this set does not mix very well with Clone Troopers, so you wont be getting much use out of it in that perspective either. The Minifigures are almost all different, decreasing the playability even more. It comes with a pilot (who must be dying from the cold conditions on Hoth), a grizzled boss Rebel, and two regular Rebel Troopers. The Minifigures are poor, and only take away from the quality of this bad set. This set is small, unusable, and boring. It is hardly useful. The bad things aside, it does have one thing going for it. I liked the Tank-thing that came with this set. It has a removable storage box, a turret, two Flick-fire missiles and an extra blaster for the pilot. The Minifigures may be bad, but at least you get an O.K. ship. The set is not too good, I would only recommend it if you really want it, or you have a TON of other Rebels to add these otherwise worthless Minifigures to. THE BAD THINGS This set has a large amount of 'Bad Things'. I have found two problems with this set. The price and the Minifigures. First and foremost, the price is horrific. I would never pay $12 for something this small. As with all Battle Packs, I hope you realize the size of what your buying. Secondly, the Minifigures add no playability to the set, or a Star Wars battle in general. They are boring, miscellaneous people that come in hardly any other set, and even if they did, I didnt think they were all that cool. With such big problems, I would not recommend this set to anyone who doesnt absolutely love wasting their money. THE GOOD THINGS I found it quite hard to find even one good thing about this set, but if I had to pick the best thing, I would unwillingly say it would have to be the tank. It is sturdy, and I think it looks cool. It has Flick-fire missiles, a turret, an extra blaster, and a storage box that can be removed. The rest of the set is clearly lacking, and the tank is just not good enough to be worth the bulk of the set. However, it is cool, and perhaps worth it if you want a cheap tank for our army. As for the playability itself, it adds to some armies, despite being included in a poor set. Although it isnt that good, it adds to any army, not just a Rebel army, and it looks good on display, for all of you collecters out there. However, this one good thing is not enough to justifly this set. CONCLUSION Overall, this set is poor. It adds nothing to an army, costs too much ($12) and is small and boring. If I were you, I would head out there and buy a better Battle Pack, and stop thinking about buying this set immediately. There are just too many bad things that overshadow the little good this set has to offer. If you have your heart set on this particular set, get it, but otherwise buy the bigger, better Star Wars sets LEGO has to offer. This set just isnt worth it. Spend your money elsewhere. Keep building, TheLegoJournalist
