For the most part does the job. It says you can either place it on the outside of the door or the inside (by the hinges). I chose to put it on the outside since I doubt she will put her fingers by the hinges when she slams the door closed. Wish it came with a smaller piece to put by the hidges just in case she did decide to place her little fingers there. Overall peace of mind that she will not smash her fingers. Better to have these then not have something to prevent little fingers getting smashed in the door.
