          we love this, it is a pain to change the batteries when the ones in the sun go out but other than that this is so nice. my son loves it and it teaches him all about the planets. very nice looking as well doesnt look cheap

            I bought this for the shared bedroom of my 8yr old and 6yr old and it is SO bad. First, the details of the planets are a shrunk wrapped plastic sleeve over tiny plastic balls. THe earth, for example has a tiny strip of detail.

            Second, the "rotation" is LOUD and shaky making the "planets" bounce up and down during the rotation.

            Third, you have to get a ladder and unmount it from the wall to replace the batteries that die nightly.

            Fourth, the tiny rods that connect the "planets" to the sun are just that, TINY, short. The picture on the product is VERY misleading and it's disappointing when you get it assembled. This thing isnt going to inspire imagination at all.

            Dont waste your money.

            Bought this solar system for my 5 yr old son's room. He loves it! The sun is made out of the same material of Uncle Milton's Moon, although the sun doesn't have phases. I have read the reviews on other sites & most of complaints were on how loud it was when the planets rotated. I did not agree. It makes a very small "hum" when rotating.
            The only 2 drawbacks that I see was: 1) The sun does not glow as bright as the Uncle Milton Moon, but it's enough. 2) This solar system does not have a timer on it, like the Moon. Would definately recommend this for an addition to a kids' room!!

            Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
