Real 3D graphics, no glasses required

Nintendo 3DS includes two screens. The bottom touch screen makes use of a telescoping stylus that is stored in the unit itself. The top screen displays 3D visuals to the naked eye. Looking at the screen is like peering through a window into a world where characters and objects have true depth. The system also has a 3D Depth Slider that lets players select the level of 3D they enjoy the most. The 3D effect can be ratcheted up to the highest level, scaled back to a more moderate setting or even turned off completely, depending on the preference of the user.

Nintendo 3DS now also includes a Circle Pad, which provides a full 360 degrees of direction, giving it the freedom and precision needed to play games in 3D worlds.

A built-in motion sensor and gyro sensor can react to the motion and tilt of the system, so whether players are twisting their systems side to side or moving them up and down, their motion-compatible Nintendo 3DS games respond instantly.

Two features will allow owners to stay connected in new ways. For owners who choose to activate it, the StreetPass feature is capable of exchanging game information with other Nintendo 3DS systems as owners pass one another. Small packets of information can be exchanged using this data-transfer method, such as Mii character data, maps for games or high scores and custom character data for different games. The SpotPass feature can connect to compatible public hotspots and through a wireless broadband Internet connection at home, even if the system is in Sleep Mode. Once connected, the Nintendo 3DS system will receive new content and updates on a regular basis.

Each Nintendo 3DS system comes pre-loaded with a variety of fun games, applications and features, such as Nintendo 3DS Camera. Nintendo 3DS has three cameras. One camera points at the user, while two additional cameras point outward and take photos in 3D.

Features

• The Nintendo eShop, through a system update, will offer access to downloadable games, including Nintendo DSiWare and ones specifically made for Nintendo 3DS.
• Built-in parental controls can be used to limit Internet access or some of the wireless functions. By using a PIN code, parents also can turn off the 3D function altogether, or limit the ratings of the games that their kids can play.
• Nintendo 3DS can also play Nintendo DS game cards with their original 2D visuals.
• Users can either import Mii characters from their Wii systems using an SD memory card or use the camera to take a picture of a person and have an automatic Mii character created.
• Built-in game Face Raiders asks users to shoot at funny depictions of their own faces. 3DS when put into Sleep Mode, can act as a pedometer, while letting users earn Play Coins for the steps they take that can then be traded in for additional content.

this is a very good handheld game i got it for my son for his 5th birthday, it has a wide veriety of games. its easy for him to use and omg... it supports netflix great deal, at this time I only have one suggestion and thats youtube, if it supports netflix than it should support youtube as well.

I was pleased with so many aspects of this product. My daughter has the first Nintendo DS so as soon as I opened it up I was pleased with the larger screen. She wanted the DSi XL for the larger screen but I think she will be happy with this one. The 3-D graphics are pretty neat. It's loaded with buttons and the sound quality is pretty ok. You can adjust the 3-D and even turn it off if it bothers your eyes (I have ole lady eyes so it didn't take long lol). There are quite a few 3-D games but not everyone carries them and the most popular games are often sold out. I did manage to get WipeOut 2 and her Godmother got her a barbie princess game. What's nice is that she can still play with the other games she has from the first Nintendo DS.

I am so amazed with the picture quality and the features the system has. I even downloaded netflix. The parental controls make me feel more comfortable when she is unsupervised.

What I didn't like was the trouble I went through updating the system. You are gonna have to update your system as soon as you get it to have access to all of the features available and opt-in to auto updates so that the system remains current. Set up your internet connections and charge the system on the lovely docking station which I think is great for the little ones. If you have firewalls on your wireless modem you have to call the service provider to get things going...not Nintendo...they won't be able to remove them for you. Depending on your service provider that can be a hassel in itself. Once you get past that it seems to be smooth sailing.

My daughter is 7 and I know she is going to love it..I wouldn't mind getting one for myself.

this game is awesome. I wasn't sure if I would have like it but once when I started playing and saw all the awesome things this game can do, I was amazed. I can't stop playing with it, love it!! 3D is great!!
One thing I found that when you play for about an hour I started to feel a little bit weird so I recommend taking brakes when playing. Just my personal experience, it may differ from yours.

My 14 yr old is constantly giggling at the movies from our Netflix account while here at home (requires WiFi). 3D; ehhh, but it can be turned off. Not much of a need to buy many actual games; plenty to download and other stuff. Saw other reviewers saying it isn't improved from the last one (we have a DSi, had a DS that broke). They must not have Netflix. We can watch up to 2 streaming on our connection at a time (Netflix limits it to 2). Getting another one for youngest from Santa this year.

I bought the 3DS system thinking it was better than the regular DS and it isn't. With that said save your money and get yourself the regular DS system. The 3D effects are not as great as in the commercials. The 3DS is not much of an improvement.
