Prior to moving into our new home, we went around and switched out all the outlet covers to these and to our dismay, most/if not all our plugs do not work with these covers! They are too thick (deep) for the plugs to connect to work. Now I'm in the process of putting the old ones back on and placing the clear plugs in each outlet...

They sick out way to far from the actual outlets to guarantee power. Especially if the prongs aren't super long. So irritating. And the slide doesn't lock into place so tries to push plug out.

A fine product for center screw outlets. INSTALL TIP: Just do not over-tighten the long screw as this will deform the plate and keep the slide from retracting properly. Get it snug enough so that the plate does not rotate, but no more. This should address the previous reviewers issue.

Not "universal"

Not actually universal, this outlet cover doesn't work with decora-style outlets, which screw on at top and bottom rather than in the center of the outlet. I should have looked more carefully, but trusted the "universal" description! The Kidco version -- also called "universal" -- is actually designed to fit both types of outlets.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

When my baby started crawling but not yet getting too far to fast I quickly determined I could not stand those annoying plugs you put in the outlets. I was quickly sold on the concept of the built in outlet covers. I'm so glad I did!These are easy to install (as long as you have the single screw in the middle type outlet), and each one done in under a minute. They work as advertised and are very easy to slide when you plugs something. That said, the screws are silver rather than white, so they may annoy perfectionist that want their screws hidden. They also do not work for heavy [@] style plugs- they tend to pop right back out. This seems to be true of all these type plugs, so my recommendation is to leave a couple regular outlets in with plugs in a few key areas where you might need that style plug. These were by far the best price I could find on these outlets.

Thes are a great idea. The plastic is a bit flimsy and the footprint is actually smaller that my builders grade plates hence they will require touch up painting in some areas. Also be careful to make sure the they have slid back to the safely covered position when unplugging, They don't always snap right back over and you'll need to nudge them a little. Otherwise great idea, we'll see if little gal figures them out.
