My 9 year old was excited to buy his first mp3 player with his recently recived ToysRUs gift cards, but I should have suggested that we do some homework on this product first. After his purchase, we found out people either love this product or hate it. I'm in the hate it category. We are on our second mp3 player. The first one wouldn't power up at all after hours of charging on the computer. This second mp3 player finally powered up, but only works when plugged into my computer. I am still waiting (almost one week later) for the Riptunes customer service folks to return my call (that they said would be returned within 24 hours) and my online service request. The only good thing I've found so far is that when I went to the store to exchange the first mp3 player, I found it on sale, and ToysRUs gave me back the difference that I paid.

Purchased this for my 7 year old, and it did not work unless plugged in. I charged it, it showed full charge but the second I unplugged it, it shut off and would not power on. Very disappointed seeing as I figured out how to load the music and photos and videos all by myself only to have to return the item.

My mother ordered purchased this item for my 7 year old for Christmas and it was horrible. Even after the device was fully charged and music from itunes were loaded, it would not power on. Once on it would was difficult to located the music downloads. When trying to power on again, it would not. It is just horrible and a waste of time and energy.

My wife and I bought two of these mp3 players for our two youngest kids. They were easy to upload music, BUT they wouldn't work without staying plugged in. I attempted to contact the company for tech support, 3 days later, still no communication.

So we decided to return to Toys 'R' Us and they have a policy to not give full refund for unpackaged products. EVEN WHEN DEFECTIVE! NOT GOOD TOYS R US! This experience will give my business to Target or Best Buy!

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

I bought this as a Christmas 2012 gift for my six year old daughter. The best thing about it is there is not software to download, just connnect to USB port and windows media player will detect it. After that, drag songs to the sync area and that's it, after fully charging of course.
After showing her a couple of times how to get it to play (have to go through several screens) she no longer needed help after say two or three days. She did figure out how to lock it but once I unlocked it she was a go again. There is no album cover to see, only the name of the song by artist or song name. A cool looking equalizer displays as the song is playing. I haven't loaded any photos yet but plan on it, it did come with three still images that look okay. It has a color display which is nice for a not so expensive mp3 player.

This was a "Santa" gift for my 6 year old son this year since I was tired of having my iPhone stolen so that he can listen to music. I'm pretty technical, so loading the music really wasn't a concern, and while it was time-consuming (new computer had to load all of the music onto Windows Media Player), the actual sync process was a breeze. I am a little frustrated with the fact that it doesn't have the ability to sort music by playlists, although in reading their website, it's possible to create 'playlists' by creating folders and copying them to the player. The controls are okay once you've committed them to memory - they don't make a lot of sense in places. Instead of pushing 'play' when you've located a song, like you would think, you have to hit the 'menu' button again, and then the song plays. It's a cute, basic product, but we may exchange for a product with a few more bells and whistles simply to have the convenience of playlists (a big plus in my book).

I tried to order this item, but my order was cancelled after five days. When I asked why, they said the product was no longer in stock, regardless of the online status. Needless to say, I will not be ordering from ToysRUs again if I don't know if I will actually get what I order. Very unhappy with the service.

Very compact, works great and it's super easy to transfer files into it. This was a gift for my kids and they just love it. And I loved the price !! You need to read the manual to understand how to use it but my 4 years old figured it out in less than a day without reading it.

I bought it for my 8 year old. He likes it. I don't find it very user friendly when the functions are concerned, but it is very easy to load music onto, and has a decent battery life.

I have 5 sons and 4 of them got a more expensive MP3 Player the youngest is 7 so we purchased this one for him. It was on sale and I figured since he young we figured he didn't need an expensive one. Well this one is pretty awesome. It has great quality it recognized all the music I downloaded into it. The downloading was simple. His mp3 is actually better then the more expensive ones we bought. Its a great product for the price.
