This was my first set from the Architecture series. I bought it after having visited the Burj Khalifa. If you've been to the Khalifa, it's a must-have. The pieces are redundant but the building experience is much fun despite being short-lived. I display it on my desk at work and it's simply *great* for the purpose, as my co-workers have often attested. A couple things I think could be better: 1. The height of the tower isn't bad, but with the redundancy of the pieces and instructions, it would've been better had they just used some more of the same pieces to make it at least a couple inches taller. 2. The pieces are perhaps too bland. They're all gray, but some of them, especially those at certain level intervals, could've had a different lining (perhaps in gold?) on say a quarter of a cylindrical piece, across the horizontal layer for that interval. It would've added a bit more of a realistic touch to the tower and increased the build time of the set. Still, it's a good, solid set overall and is great for display purposes especially, as most if not all the sets in this series are. Can we get an Architecture series Eiffel Tower and CN Tower, please? Also for readers of the review, I hope you enjoy my attached pictures of the Lego sets and a full-sized version of the Lego Khalifa as displayed at the building in Dubai.

This is obviously a very cool looking set but at the same time quite disappointing. Interestingly, I wrote to Lego almost a year ago to suggest that they add the Burj Khalifa to the Lego Architecture series so of course I was very excited when I found out it had finally come out as an official Lego set. I am a bit disappointed though. I was hoping for a challenging build, not a quick set that I would finish putting together in under 20 minutes. The build is interesting but it is extremely quick and very anti climatic. Before you know it, you are done. So if you're looking for a quick build that looks decent and recognizable, then this is the set for you. However, if, like me, you were looking for a large, imposing, and just really impressive set fitting for a building of the Burj Khalifa's stature, then you will find this a HUGE let down. I respect that Lego Architecture sets follow the "more is less" mentality, but there is a limit to that. Too often, these Lego Architecture sets (especially for the skyscrapers) are just too little. They are severely dumbed down versions of the real thing. My suggestion is to at least try to make future sets larger. I would happily pay over $100 for a set that will blow my mind, much as the real life versions would if you were to see them in person.

Burj Khalifa, the worlds best!

By Toftsy

from Bristol

Comments about LEGO Architecture Burj Khalifa (21008):

My 9th Model of the Lego Architecture range and my most favorite building in real life! I followed the construction of the real building from foundations to topping out. It took over 5 years to build and simply is one of the most amazing engineering achievements of the modern world today. I took just 25 minutes to build this, lots of small pieces which give this Lego building the exquisite detail of the real thing. I love the finished article and also love the way is goes together. The box and accompanying booklet are excellent quality. The booklet has all the mind blowing amazing facts of the real building as well as the build instructions. Great model overall - totally recommended!

Just doesn't work for me.

By Legocanine

from NYC

Comments about LEGO Architecture Burj Khalifa (21008):

I think this building just doesn't lend itself to being part of the architecture series. The product is too small to give a satisfactory representation of the actual building. Some large buildings work on a small scale, this one doesn't.

Comments about LEGO Architecture Burj Khalifa (21008):

Simple but cool. The small pieces are madness. Trying to keep aligned all of the smaller sections in the tower was stressful. I recommend this to lego fans in overall. Good center piece and an easy built.

Its not even close to what it supposed to be outside of the basic shape. and it was also extremely boring to build. by far the biggest waste of money i spent on legos. :(

Comments about LEGO Architecture Burj Khalifa (21008):

I'd say that this is one of the greats from Lego. It's a really (REALLY) fun build and it's great for collectors! Mine is sitting happily with my other models. GREAT JOB LEGO TEAM!

Desert Giant

Comments about LEGO Architecture Burj Khalifa (21008):

I have the Willis Tower and the Empire State building, and they are to scale with each other. However, I do not think the Burj Khalifa is. It is somewhat close, but I still think to truly be to scale it would have to be taller. This is a small gripe, since if it were made taller then it would cost more. It still looks very realistic. Since it is not to minifigure scale it has little playability, but that is what I expected.

Good Fun-at first

By JonMW

from Newport News

Comments about LEGO Architecture Burj Khalifa (21008):

This set is LOTS of fun to build. I got it for Christmas and built it that morning. It was fun. It's not exactly fun to play with, though. Sometimes, I do dramatic scenes where I smash it, though, and then rebuild it for fun. It also looks really cool on your shelf.

Awesome souvenier

By FrussellOfTheShire

from Sydney

Comments about LEGO Architecture Burj Khalifa (21008):

I got this set as a souvenier from Dubai and it looks aweseome! it is just like the real thing. This was my first LEGO architecture set and its made me want more. The only problem was it lacked in a bit of detail. The circular bricks couldve been blue and the studs could still be gray. It would look more like glass. Anyone whos been there should get it.

Good Purchase

Comments about LEGO Architecture Burj Khalifa (21008):

I got this so I could keep adding on to my Architecture collection. The set was not hard to assemble, but there was a lot of repetitive parts which took some fun out of it. Overall is looks great to the real one and it is a little bit higher than my other skyscrapers. Price was kinda so-so. good job Lego and keep making more Architecture sets in the future.
