I didn't have a problem with the cup being washed in the dishwasher, but my daughter (16 months) does have a problem drinking out of it. She has no problem using a regular straw, but these straws barely let any milk through and she swallows up more air than anything with the way it squeezes when she drinks. It is very hard to take the flip top off to thoroughly clean the lid in the dishwasher. Also, the straw doesn't even come close to the bottom, so you are always left with at least an ounce of wasted milk at the bottom.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

hard to clean the nooks and crannies under the top and difficult to take apart for a thorough cleaning, under the flip top and in the bending part of the straw can get grimey and moldy because they are impossible to clean without pulling out the straw then taking an object such as the handle of the spoon to pop off the flip top. and the other part of the straw let in air when ever id didn't fall off first.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I bought this product, and then realized that there was no way I would be able to clean the straw....it has a V shape closure where the child sips from which allows germ build up in the top part of the straw. I thought about how I would clean them, and then said forget it....its impossible! I was afraid that germs would just build up under the V shape design, so I did not want to take the chance. I took them back to the store.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
