Awesome product! I have nothing negative to say about the product's durability; they're Legos! My only complaint about the product is that Jek Porkens is one of the pilots that come with the unit! Why would you include the first pilot that got shot down in the initial Death Star assault? Why not include Wedge Antilles in stead of Jek Porkens?

hinges are desined pooly. When you set up the wings in the two positions the wings fall off this LEGO.My 9yold grandson traded this new Lego to me for another less costly Lego.

If you or your kids do not have a Lego X-Wing in your collection, this is a very nice addition. It is very detailed and is easy to customize to make it even better.

As kids discover the original movies, they will enjoy this set more and more.

Pros:
This version is much more detailed than the others.
It's cannons are longer. Very nice compared to the older sets.

The engine turbines look amazing. The use and style of the wheels used to make the turbines was very creative and better than the previous versions.

The wings are longer than the previous versions.

It comes with 4 minifigs. The 2 new minifigs, Pilot and his Droid, are both well detailed.

Cons:
Same old canopy from previous versions...I just don't like this design and it has been over used.

The Droid has to go in sideways instead of facing forward (because the width of the vehicle is smaller than previous versions). This may not matter to you but it isn't very accurate in my opinion.

Price is very high for just a vehicle and 4 figs.

Overall:
I think is a good set and can easily be upgraded to an excellent set with just a few customizations.

Some customization ideas:
I think it is lacking in a few areas, so I suggest adding flat 1x8 tiles to the top to help secure it. Use red, grey or white colors to liven it up. Change out the tan pieces and dark red pieces with other colors like white, grey or red to make it more accurate with the film version. Finally, add real rubber bands to help hold the wings together better as the pieces used to mount the wings tend to come loose after the wings are opened and closed.

Every Lego set is at least $10 over suggested retail price. Their greed and business practices are pathetic. You should NEVER EVER buy a Lego set, Skylanders, or any other popular toy here!!! Even lego.com has every set $10 - $50 cheaper not on sale than Toys R Us does on sale but, way over suggested retail price. Don't support their pathetic greedy trash practices!!!!
