Features

EPS Foam and Aluminum Reinforcements for Safety

The Monterey features an aluminum reinforced seat back and sides, which provide a reliable, strong foundation. Energy absorbing EPS foam, which lines the extra deep reinforced sides and adjustable headrest, provides full side impact protection. In addition, the seat bottom is reinforced for increased lap belt safety and angled to prevent submarining. LATCH connectors keep the Monterey secure in the vehicle when the seat is not occupied (LATCH use is optional).

Adjustable Height and Width Means Seat Grows with Child

This booster seat is designed for children between 30 to 120 pounds and 38 to 63 inches tall. As children grow, the Monterey can be adjusted with the dial on the seat back, which increases the seat's width to accommodate a child's shoulders up to 20 inches wide. The adjustable headrest offers 11 different height settings.

Additionally, the Monterey can be used as a backless booster.

AirTek Foam Provides Comfy Ride

AirTek foam padding and a plush cloth surface cushion your child, keeping them comfortable as they ride. AirTek padding provides luxurious cushioning with exceptional breathability, and the cloth surface feels soft and gentle against your child's skin. In addition, two recline positions allow the Monterey to fit a wide variety of vehicle seats and further enhance comfort.

Convenient Features for Child and Parents

The seat back is removable so it can be packed flat, making storage or travel a breeze. Two extra deep cup holders are angled to keep drinks upright and provide a place to keep toys and other items within easy reach. When not needed, both cup holders fold out of the way. Rubber bottom grips protect your vehicle's upholstery and ensure no-slip installation.

This is our favorite booster. It expands up and out to the sides so it really can keep your child comfortable until they are truly ready to use an adult seatbelt alone. Also converts to a backless booster when they outgrow the height of the back. There are benefits to using the back (side impact protect) so please continue to use that until your child outgrows it. Your child should be harnessed until around kindergarten age for a variety of reasons, including spine and pelvis strength. You should continue to use a booster until your child can pass the 5-step test (simply google it for details) in their seating position. A child may pass the 5-step in one of your family's vehicles before another. Boosters do a tremendous amount to keep children safe and this booster is wonderful. Love that is latches in for a secure connection to the car. That is more for convenience than safety but it's really nice to have. Overall, I highly recommend this booster. My next favorite is the Britax parkway SGL, which also latches to the car. (The SG does not.) Both are wonderful but the monterey seems to expand more and would definitely be the better choice for heaftier kids.

This carseat is great! It has the latch system so it stays in and installs super easy while being secure and is easy enough for my daughter to use and buckle herself in and out.
