The RadianRXT features a steel alloy frame for a strong foundation. Aluminum reinforced side walls and head support are lined with thick, energy absorbing EPS foam for side impact protection. The SafeStop energy absorbing harness provides extra protection for children 20 to 40 pounds. When installed, the harness's bungee-like energy absorption reduces impact when your child is seated in the forward-facing position. Additionally, the RadianRXT boasts rear-facing tether capability to reduce seat rotation in the event of an impact.

The RadianRXT offers the adaptability you need to keep your child's car rides safe and comfortable. The seat fits children in the rear-facing position from 5 to 45 pounds and from 20 to 80 pounds in the forward-facing position. SuperLATCH Feature for Secure Installation

Diono's SuperLATCH feature makes use of your car's LATCH system to take advantage of the RadianRXT's full weight capacity.* The SuperLATCH connectors are successfully crash tested for children weighing up to 45 pounds rear-facing and up to 80 pounds forward-facing. In vehicles with LATCH anchors, SuperLATCH is a safe, convenient way to install the RadianRXT. Rubber bottom grips protect your car's upholstery and ensure the seat won't slide after installation.

Slim Profile and Convenient Features

A slim profile means the RadianRXT can sit three across in most vehicles. Because it doesn't have a pedestal, the seat sits relatively low which allows the child to board with ease. The seat folds up when not in use, so storing or transporting the seat is easy. At 13 months I bought this for my baby girl's Christmas present and she loves it. No more fights to get in the car seat and it just looks and feels way more comfortable and safe. It is a bit heavy to lug out the door, but thankfully she is walking and can follow as I carry car seat and diaper bag to the car. With an infant I believe I would have to wear the baby in a sling or wrap in order to make that do able. Once to the car it is really easy to click the latch and then kneel on the seat to tighten the lacth firmly. It comes with approved padding for babies and for the shoulder straps so I don't have any concern about chafing or using non approved pads. It does help installation to have it in the middle or to push the front seat forward all the way while installing it rear facing to give you the most room to maneuver. After it is in, I was able to put all my seats back al lthe way in each position in my RAV4. It is much narrower than others which is great to fit baby in this seat, 7year old in his booster, and grandpa all in the back seat. We move the seat in and out of cars several times a day as dad (Chevy Suburban) takes the boy to school with baby in tow, and the Nanny (Ford Freestyle) picks him up with baby and then me in my RAV4 if we need to go to the store or out for a treat. I did notice that a friend with a Lamaze True Fit was similar, but the Lamaze had a convenient grip at the top of the seat that the Diono didn't have (however the True Fit was a wider seat taking up more room). I think figuring out the carry strap would solve my problem with lugging it out the door :)
It is very easy to tighten the shoulder straps.

I did a lot of research before chooseing a seat and I really feel that this is the safest seat on the market. The fact that it folds for travel is a major plus for us too as we will be doing a lot of international travel. My only complaint is that it says the product weight is 10lbs in the additional info section. It actually weighs 27lbs. Not a huge deal but it is heavier than our Britax marathon and heavier than I expected. I could see it being an issue for someone with a bad back or who needs to carry it frequently or for long periods of time.

Just received and installed to a 2000 honda accord. Rear facing for a 15 month old. Decent build quality. The memory foam is only .25 inch thick. not sure how much comfort it will add. The material is microfiber velour and grippy. No sliding on this fabric. Not sure about its longevity. Heavy. Barely fits in my car. The seat contacts the driver side seat back, but this also prevents side to side motion. The tether restraint on the forward side will not accomplish side to side restraint. I'm using the seat belt to restrain this, since we don't have latch on our car. With some fumbling I was able to get this installed. Helps to have a small arm for the belt pass thru hole. I'm hoping the seat material keeps the kiddy cool. Will know more as it gets closer to summer.
