We received about 15 different blankets when my son was born- fleece, flannel, knit, crocheted, cotton- all different kinds. This blanket is by far my son's favorite. It washes very well (I line dry it-not sure if that makes a difference in the pilling mentioned by the other reviewer)and is so soft and cozy. His crib is right over the vent in his bedroom so his mattress gets really cold when the air is on. He usually likes it nice and cool in his room but occasionally it gets too cold for him. I put this blanket down on top of his sheet (tucked in tightly) and put him on top of it and he is asleep within a minute. I just bought 3 more of these blankets for him to have in the winter when going to and from the car because they are so cozy (the car seat inspector warned against heavy coats reducing the effectiveness of car seat harnesses in an accident so we are going to try our best to only use warm blankets and thinner jackets)

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The velour side of this blanket is great, however over time, the sherpa side pills and becomes not so soft. In general, stay away from blankets with sherpa.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
