This player was given as a gift to my Daughter. Sadly, it was/is D.O.A. The player will not accept a charge nor will it turn on. I have tried everything ranging from OS to mounted/unmounted. Nope. Just broken. No amount of "resetting" or reformatiing will breathe life into this waste of our enviroment.

Stay FAR away from RIPTUNES. The only part of the name that you need to remember is RIP.

My daughter got it as a Christmas gift. Won't turn on or off unless it is plugged into the USB port and hooked up to the computer. DOesn't hold a charge for long. Toys r us wouldn't accept the return and I tried over 10 times to contact customer service at Riptunes and they have still never contacted me back. Very poor quality and no customer service.

My daughter got this as a reward for outstanding grades yesterday. We tried to charge it using the PC USB. Good luck getting it to be recognized after the first time you connect it. You actually have to reboot the computer - just to charge it! It lights up while connected and says "hi-speed USB" on the screen. Sometimes you can use the PC to see what's on the device. Sometimes. After five hours connected (to charge), the thing is still dead as a door nail when disconnected from the PC. I am going to try and return it.

I got this for my 9yr old son for Christmas, after I read the reviews I was expecting to be disappointed, after my son came to me and told me it wouldn't work if it wasn't connected to the computer I decided to check out the website, it's a simple device and if you read the directions you will find that it is quite easy to operate, it just took some reading and playing with and it works great, overall I am pretty happy with this purchase and am looking for a case to use with it so my son doesnt do anymore damage to the casing, the only thing I will complain about is the material its made out of, seems to be plastic but the cheap kind, I dont like it but other than that its a good product.

The charge didn't last more than an hour. It kept asking her to calibrate it which was a chore. After having it less then a week there is something wrong with the screen. It looks broken and it may be. She is eight. She says it didn't fall but it was about 20 degrees outside when she took it out. My point is that if it is for kids they need to make it more kid compatable.

I purchased this for my daughter for Christmas. She was excited and opened it. It has never worked. It will not turn on. Even after following the directions to charge it for 3-5 hours. It will power on while it is connected to a power source, but will shut off as soon as it is disconnected from the power source. Overall I do NOT recommend this product for anyone.

I purchased this for Christmas and wanted to have it charged and ready to go. The first one I tried charging with a usb wall charger. It never charged and I couldn't turn it on. I took it back. The salesman said to charge it using the usb on the computer. I did just that, following the instructions exactly, including the safely remove hardware. It showed a full charge. I turned off both buttons. The next day I tried to turn it on and it said it had 7% power. I tried to charge it again and it will not turn on. I give up. Will take it back and hope to get my money back or a store credit for something else. I bought it on black friday so they may tell me too bad. I'll find out tomorrow.

Product has lasted a year...speakers are ok in a very quiet environment...earphones help. Battery life on running video averages between 3.5-4 hours on lower light level. I got 13 movies on the unit...bought the extra 8G of memory and you can use the condensing software from the riptunes 4G player to cut the size of the movie files in half.

Got the product for my daughter as a gift for a good report card. Connected it to a computer and was able to transfer music; however, the unit never would turn on. I plugged it into a USB charger, and it would power up, but it won't turn on unless it's plugged in.

checked out the specs. the pixel is a little bit better than a cell phone can record video and take pictures. can deal with more files as far as with pictures AND videos Than Apple. Only thing I wish i would do would be able to roam on the internet i could do without the apps. just would be nice if i was on the go. but over all is a good device so far. you can make it a 16GB if you buy an 8 GB micro disk. which you can get at [@] for like ten bucks and 6$ for a screen protector. so the only thing it doesn't do is go online or have apps. The speaker on this is better in my opinion. you can even record now there is a small feature that is really cool that i won't spoil but it's worth the [$] i pain excluding the scren protector (recommend) and the 8GB (recemmend for video add ons)
