This gate is very strong and well made. We have had two, first is in our hall and frequently stays open- which means it has to be low enough to the floor for the legs to rest.
Our second gate we placed in the doorway between living room and dining, the problem is that we wanted it to stay open most of the time but the base molding is too high to mount it with the foot reaching the floor. If we were going to keep the gate shut most of the time it wouldn't matter, but because it would hang open and our toddler hangs off it, that wouldn't work. STILL a good gate and well made, just not for high molding.

We use it on top of the stairs. We initially got it because the space between slots is rather big and I was hoping my cat would be able to go through it while keeping the child safely off the stairs. The cat can fit through, but not without getting half-stuck and anxious, so we still have to open the gate for her.

The colour is very nice, and the gate is sturdy.
I wish it would click in place easier; I am a bit paranoid about visiting relatives not closing it all the way.

All in all, if I had seen something looking just as nice with an auto-closure, I would have gone with that, but I this gate is just fine, fits the style and the budget.

I bought this gate as it was almost $30 cheaper than the one we had at the top of the stairs. This was really a horrible gate. My Dad was nice enough to mount it and it doesn't stay in the hinges if you lift it too much to close it which you have to or you can't get it to slide. Very bad construction and more like a $10 gate. Do not buy this.

We followed the tips from a previous comment and made sure to anchor it to studs. It works fine, its not crazy smooth when sliding open but its not difficult by any means. Functions well, I'd buy it again.

Poor craftsmanship - hinges were not straight. After a couple of hours thinking that I was the one screwing things up, I realized that the hinges were defective. Now I have no gate, and four holes in my wall.

Our experience with this gate has been fine. The style and look is great and matches the woods in our home. The template was easy to use and with carefull instalation the gate works perfectly. We have two and one of them doesn't slide as easily back and forth because the brakets seem a bit crooked but it's not too bad. Overall I would recommend this gate.

My husband had a horrible time trying to install this gate as the directions are terrible but after it was installed I made him take it right back down. This gate has a decent look to it and matched our wood floors but it is poorly made and does not open very easily. I normally read reviews before buying stuff like this but was at the store and all gates were on sale, definitely reading reviews before buying again.

Purchased two of these gates. One for the top and one for the bottom of our stairs. Have already had to replace the bottom one -- it literally fell apart within 4 months. Have another replacement gate on order for the top. The gates are very noisy when trying to open/close; difficult for my older kids (9 and 8) and sometimes myself to open and close.

We bought this gate as it was one of the few that expand to the 48 inch width. We placed it in a 48 inch opening between the living room and the kitchen to keep 9 month old twin boys out of the kitchen. The directions were confusing in order to expand the gate to the full length because the gate isn't even that long. The bolts that attach to the wall need to be set at different lengths to achieve this. When actually put to use at the length it stated it would work at, the gate is very flimsy and the sliding mechanisms do not function properly , getting stuck each time it is opened/closed. We like that the wood color matches our decor but otherwise seems to be poor quality.

Although I didn't find this gate too difficult to install, once installed the thing opens about one out of nine times. The door sticks due to all of the slides being wobbly. I literally have to reach down and straighten out all 5 slides before I can close this thing. Have had it for a week & adjustments do nothing to improve its function. I will be taking it back today. horrible craftsmanship!
