I used this pump with my first 2 kids and plan to use it again. I've had friends comment that it is much quieter than the Medela pump. I'm glad to see that BRU carries it now. I've just had to replace the rubber parts with each kid, but the milk doesn't get in the tubes and I love that you can adjust the speed and suction. I have recommended this pump to anyone I know that is expecting and plans to breastfeed. I went back to work after both my kids and pumped until they turned 1.

I bought this product intending only to use it once or twice a day. Unfortunately my baby boy has latching issues so I have to pump after almost every feeding. My initial opinion of pump was that it was cheap, and I was correct. However I had read many good reviews and did not intend to be using it very much. The pump is a good option if you pump once or twice ta day. However if you intend to pump exclusively or for the majority of feedings this pump is not the one for you. Initially one of the caps did not fit as securely on the shield structure as it should have and I could hear some air escaping when I pumped. After about 1 1/2 months (of which I was only pumping 2-3 times a day) the motor started to make a squeaky sound, (the motor was very loud to begin with) at about 2 months (of which I started to pump 5-6 times a day) suction started to decrease. As of yesterday (3 1/2 months from first use) the suction was basically gone when pumping both breasts. It still works well when pumping one breast at a time. However I do not have the time to sit there and spend 30-40 minutes pumping after each feeding, what mom does? So I had to go out and buy a pricey Medela, but I love it already. I should have spend the extra money in the beginning and bought a quality pump. Overall if you are going to pump infrequently this pump is sufficient. However if you plan to use it on a daily basis and or for multiple years, don't waste your money and invest in a Medela or other pump made for frequent pumping.

This is the worst pump! I've had this pump for less than a month and the suction is already gone! I would suggest doing research and purchasing a different pump because loss of suction seems to be the norm with this pump! VERY UNSATISFIED!

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Breast Pump:

I'm a full time mom and exclusively pump and have been doing so for almost 3 months. In this 3 month time I've already needed to replace this pump due to decrease in suction that amounted to pump failure (determined after 2nd call to customer support 1 month after 1st call). If you use this pump a lot and in order to maintain good milk supply to feed your baby well with breast milk, you'll need to keep track of milk collection quantity with time it takes to collect, the sound of your machine as well as how well the diaphragms are moving. That way you can be proactive at the slightest bit of a inconsistency and determine the issue before it has any huge mental and physical impact(pumping is so mentally and physically involved so you do not want to upset this balance, just thinking about this right now is delaying my milk let down as I pump LOL). Then you'll need to problem shoot all of the possible causes of your pump inconsistencies; thoroughly checking the caps, diaphragms, white or clear valves, tube adapter, speed setting, suction setting, power cord, bottle connection and so on. All of this problem shooting due to the various parts and poor functional design of them gets a bit tiring especially when you only have a small window to pump while baby is taking a quick nap or play session! There's more though, if you've checked all those things and you're still having an issue and your machine is sounding even the slightest bit different then it's most likely pump failure and definitely call product support, you might even have to call 2 or 3 times to get them to replace your pump. With all that being said, this pump is ridiculous and has cost me a lot of time and sanity but my insurance provided it free of cost and I have no experience with other pumps. Thankfully customer support is awesome!

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Breast Pump:

The only thing I like about the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump is that it is easy to clean. I use this pump 2-3 times a day. The first time my son wakes my breasts are very full so I feed and pump. Even with them super full it takes an hour to pump 4-6 ounces. I only pump one breast at a time and I constantly have to remove the cap to restore suction. I don't see how you could pump both breasts with such poor suction on just one breast. I get more milk in less time with my manual pump

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Breast Pump:

I love this pump, I have been using it for 18months now, all the while meaning to write a review. Other than it being slightly noisy, nothing too loud. I have used it in the room with my asleep, but when I am on the phone the other person always knows when I am pumping. Any who, It is a great pump, from the very first time I used it until now it has never hurt or caused discomfort. The manual is helpful and informative. The carrying bag is very useful and big. It is easy to clean and very sturdy. I have dropped it a number of times and it is perfectly fine. You can buy extra pieces for it if you lose some also. I love this pump. Like I said it is comfortable and easy there are two dials to turn and that's it. I would recommend getting a pumping bra to hold the suctions in place and free up your hands. It takes batteries and plugs in, you can even purchase a car adapter for trips. I love this pump and highly recommend it to anyone who is stuck on which pump to purchase.

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Breast Pump:

I despise this pump. My son did not BF well so I ended up exclusively pumping since he was 3 weeks old. I was so discouraged at first at the low amounts that I was getting when pumping. I wasn't sure if it was my supply or the pump, so I rented a Medela hospital grade pump for a week to compare. When I had to go back to the Ameda, it frustrated me every time. The diaphragms lose suction every minute, so I was constantly taking the white caps off and replacing them to start suction again. I even tried various flange sizes and replaced valves and diaphragms several times. I kept the Ameda at work and a Medela at home; I would get twice as much milk in half the time with my Medela pump. If I had used only the Ameda pump, I would never have enough milk for my son, and not because of my milk supply.

Comments about Evenflo 1001211 Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Breast Pump:

I found this breast pump to be mostly useless. If I could give it zero stars I would. Maybe if you are extra sensitive, and only need to pump once a day to build a supply it could be alright. I tried this pump because a friend had it and couldn't make it work for her, after 20 minutes she had 2 ounces. I tried it to see if it worked differently for me, being that I am breastfeeding my third child and have pumped some with all three children. It didn't matter. I have the older Philips Avent pump and love it fully adjustable suction pressure and speed. This pump does have adjustable speed and suction pressure. But I found that on the slower settings even with the suction at the highest I almost couldn't feel it. At the higher speeds and high suction I was able to get about 1.5 ounces from each side. With my other pump I average 4 ounces each.
Bottom line, without adequate suction this pump isn't worth having, it doesn't pump.

I started out using this pump when my son first came home. It is the only pump I had used so I didn't know any better. Now that my son is 3 months old I am so upset I have this. It is painful and the motor is out. It won't even suction anymore. I am going to opt for the maul pump instead until I can afford a nicer pump.

Let's be honest, no pump is going to work as well as your baby nursing, but the Ameda is a decent double pump for a fulltime working mom. A full pumping session takes me 10-15 mins, and the Airlock system makes cleaning it a little more simple (both important for working moms). But what the pump lacks in design it makes up for in customer service. I bought mine about 9 months ago, and have changed out the diaphragms, tubing and valves (routine maintenance every 3 months), but one side wasn't working well anymore. I called Ameda customer service and explained the problem. We began to troubleshoot (apparently the cap sometimes loses its tight seal with the flange and diaphragm over time), but in the middle of the conversation my phone dropped the call. I never had a chance to call back, but what appeared on my doorstep 3 days later? A box with ALL new parts! (Even the parts I had not been able to find to replace prior). I switched out the parts and the pump is working as if it were new. Ameda has definitely made my pumping experience as easy as possible (and let's be honest again, pumping is not easy).

I was very excited when I bought this pump as I had read many good reviews. However, I had it around a month and a half when I felt the suction was not as strong. I borrowed my sister's TT breast pump when I was visiting and it's suction was much better. I kept using mine when traveling which was every other weekend and it kept getting weaker and weaker. I had to rent one for home which I used more often. It finally made a loud racket and quit working three months into nursing. I also had difficulty from the beginning getting it to stay stuck to my chest as it would slide from the milk that would escape in the shield. I am now on a hunt for a pump for my second child and am very leery of spending a lot of money on any pump only to have a similar experience.
