My son is 2 and we gave this to him for christmas. By February, the engine quit working. I spent almost $10 on replacement batteries, but it still didn't work. Very poor quality.

My son loves this train. It's less noisy than the Thomas versions and also lighter weight. The bonus is that it comes with three additional cars. It also has a realistic whistle sound and my child loved that. The whistle runs on a button battery and that has proved long-lasting and I haven't had to change it over a period of at least 2 months.
The main issue with the toy that is the engine runs on 1 AAA battery and that runs out in a day with regular use. A battery a day is pretty steep. Overall, if your child loves trains, this is a pretty cool train. It hauls many cars easily and it compatible with both Thomas and Chuggington cars.
Just have a lot of AAA batteries on hand!

We bought this for my son for Christmas and within a few uses the noises still worked but the engine won't move. I finally got around to getting new batteries and the engine still doesn't run!

In less than month of normal to light useage, the engine stopped working. I purchsed new batteries (for $8) and it still does not work. The whole reason I got this is for the little motor inside. This is going back, and I'm annoyed.

This set was given to our son as a Christmas Gift this year. We were very excited to get it in action, however we were not impressed. The train seemed to work fine, would run perfectly on a table or the floor, however it did not work well on our imaginarium train set. It got stuck a lot and has some trouble at turns. We returned it to the store and purchased a thomas instead. The light on the engine was a bonus though!

Really works! my son loves it. It makes noise and runs on its own on the wood tracks. Fun little train.

Bought these to go with the Imaginarium figure 8 set. I really wanted to have a battery operated train to go on its own for when my son got tired of pushing the trains himself. It works great and is so much cheaper than the blue character trains! Anyway, I have had to replace the battery a few times but its probably because my son leaves it on all the time. It also is pretty strong, it can run with all the trains attached to it. Love this!!
