Usually I do not leave comments but always read them and use Their input for my purchases. When I was buying my first moniter I found shopping very difficult because everyone hated or loved a certain monitor. Thought I would write a review of what I believe to be a decent monitor for average usage. This is our second monitor the previous monitor (Graco) held on for as long as it could. About 11 months in it could not hold a charge and only transmitted static. Purchased this monitor as a replacement. Yes it is silent when there is no movement (no white noise) but picks up instantly. Was a bit nervous at first but after repeated attempts to fool it, it always picked up a whisper. The reception is amazing and absolutely NO static. Enjoy the room tempature feature and 2 way intercom. The only reason I gave this moniter a 4 was there is no battery back up so if the power goes out so does the receiver. However if there is an outage the parent unit beeps to identify that there is a problem. I would recommend this monitor with the Purchasers knowledge that there is a (No white noise) feature.

We purchased this product in the hopes that it would be "quieter" than our current monitor. Needless to say we got what we were asking for. My spouse and I sleep in a room just adjacent of the baby's room.
Out of the box it did take some tinkering with to get used to messing with the configurations on the parental units. So far so good...
Until we decided to test the sensitivity. It is just like the other reviews say, the parental units stay whisper quiet unless the baby makes a loud noise... and I do mean a considerable amount of noise.
We tested it very simply, one in the baby's room and one in our bedroom. To me the "high sensitivity" in this unit's microphone was lacking... putting it mildly. It didn't pick up any of my loud "whispers" in fact it didn't even pick up anything until I talked in a normal tone.
No where does it say that it cuts on and off in the manual we have. When there is a noise that is loud enough to activate the parental units, the parental units will then pick up EVERYTHING, Eureka! We fixed it... not quite.
The parental units would only remain active for what we timed out to 10 seconds, if no sound was made then the parental unit would then revert back to its silent counter-part.
Long story short we took it back because our Sony baby monitor that cost a third of this one picks up everything, and that is what mom likes (she likes to be able to wake up and be able to hear the baby breathing to know everything is alright).
We'll just deal with the mild interference and the noise that we get from it from time to time than continue to wonder if the baby is asleep or not with this product.
I would have liked the product much better if maybe it had two different reception modes (something like what I've described above).

For parents:
If you're not interested in hearing every little sound and only the cries of you distraught baby (whatever the reason may be), then this is a great baby monitor that has great features for a "reasonable" price.
If you're a (new) mom who is constantly needing to hear the baby breathing or any little noises that he/she may make then make every effort to avoid purchasing this monitor! (Our little girl would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and start playing in her crib, but when she plays she either makes very little or no noise at all, and we wouldn't find out until we would go and check on her and see her on her hands and knees crawling around her crib! An issue we never ran into with our previous monitor...)

Monitor is great I like how they don't run off batteries and they charge fast the fact that we can talk to the baby thru the monitor from the other room just to calm her is great.

    Great at first

Comments about Motorola Inc Motorola Digital Audio Baby Monitor with 2 Parent Units - MBP16-2:

This monitor will pick up the slightest sound which is great. However......after only 7 1/2 months, the the monitor goes dead in one night after having a full charge. Kind of defeats the purpose, right? I wake up to a dead monitor and I am quite diligent about maintaining both monitors. Always links to main unit unlike a lot of other reviews.

Comments about Motorola Inc Motorola Digital Audio Baby Monitor with 2 Parent Units - MBP16-2:

The monitors are great when they work; they don't annoy you with every tiny sound and they only alert you when the child is actually trying to get your attention.

However, the engineers who designed and tested this product before releasing to the market didn't do their jobs (or their managers didn't listen to save a few dimes - think GM & ignition switches). Every time the power flickers or you unplug the unit to move it you've got a chance it won't link again. Ever. Again. Product DEAD.

We received a replacement set the first time it happened (just within the 1 year warranty), but since then we've had our fingers crossed every time we see rain storms coming or unplug to move them thinking that our monitors are about to bite the dust. Now they've died a 2nd time, but we are not within the warranty period anymore so it's time to find new monitors.

Any, I repeat any software and hardware product is tested for power failures during all modes of operation. It is unconscionable that Motorola missed this - I'm betting they knew it would happen but didn't care. I can see why Motorola has fallen so far behind the likes of Apple and Samsung...

This is the 3rd set of this baby monitor that I've purchased. The first set lasted 18 months being on 24/7. It was great because my daughter had one unit in her room and I had the other. I replaced the unit and when my daughter moved out it went with her. I purchased another set to have at my home for sleep overs. I think it's a great product and easy to use. Never had any issues with clarity either.

I am on my second set of these monitors and after using each set for about a year they both broke (The parent monitors no longer link to the baby monitor). I called the company and they replaced my first set (I had 2 parent monitors, but they only replaced it with a 1 parent set). Which was great, but now i'm in the same boat a year later.

I was happy with all the features while they worked. But I would not recommend these based on the fact that I've had two sets break so quickly.

I loved this monitor for the 12 months that it worked. I unplugged it to take to Grandma and Grandpa's house, and it would never link again and just continues to beep. As others have stated once it doesn't link it will never link again. Very disappointing for a fairly expensive monitor to only last a year. Prior to the linking issue it was great. I loved the talk back feature. It would have been nice to be able to control the night light and music from the parent unit, but that wasn't a deal breaker. I loved the unit, but I am very hesitant to buy another Motorola monitor due to the linking issue. I would recommend this product but encourage anyone to leave the units plugged in or else they may not re-link!

Comments about Motorola Inc Motorola Digital Audio Baby Monitor with 2 Parent Units - MBP16-2:

We loved this monitor because it actually had a very clear sound and didn't have many issues with interference. My daughter loved the fact that it played music and that we were able to talk to her through the monitor. It would have been nice if the parent unit had controls for the music though as it would have been helpful to be able to turn it back on without going into her room to do so. The biggest issue with the monitor is that just after the warranty was up, it suddenly would no longer link the parent units to the baby unit. We have tried everything, even turning the monitors off for a few days and turning them back on close enough to each other that nothing was interfering with the signal...no luck with any troubleshooting. Now, we are out to look for a new monitor.
