Ordered one of these for my son, who had used and really enjoyed the version of this toy that I had as a kid while at his grandparents' house. That one is at least 30 years old and still works; the new one was junk out of the box. The seal between the air tank and the motor simply isn't tight enough to hold the amount of pressure necessary for the car to move under its own power. It starts leaking at 10-12 pumps, which is far short of what it needs. This is probably a result of the thin and flimsy frame material, which allows the car to flex too easily, and doesn't support the tank seal. It's disappointing to see such a classic, time-tested toy design ruined with such low quality, cheap manufacturing. Don't waste your money.

My five year old received this for Christmas and was excited to put it together. Instructions for assembly were clear, though the screws were very difficult to tighten all the way.

Once the buggy was put together, we pumped it up and nothing happened. Upon further inspection, the notched wheel that appears to make it go, not only doesn't move on it's own, but there's no way for it to manipulate the tires. Bottom line, poor design.

This kit went together very easily. Once everything was together it worked well and was a lot of fun for me and my 3.5 year old son. The black protective cage is actually very important for proper operation because otherwise the car flexes and this causes the seal between the tank and engine to leak air. The construction is very similar to the Tomy air jammer but the plastic is a little flimsier and while the engine looks similar externally the piston location is not the same (isn't inside the fake heatsink fin part). I like that the engine runs for a long time. I would have preferred to pay a little more for a more robust product.
