Comments about Summer Infant Born Free Training Cup - 7 oz - Blue:

Overall, these sippy cups are fabulous.
I started using them for my second child and have used them again (and bought more) for my third. Both of my boys have transitioned well to a sippy cup using the Born Free.

The Good: They are free-flowing, so they are able to control how much goes into their mouth and aren't held back by a slow flow. So many sippys just don't work. Either the valve stops the flow after a while, or because of lack of air going into the cup, less liquid is able to come out. (My husband is an engineer and has fun testing the flow capabilities on all the sippys we've tried.) But because of the way the valve on the Born Fee is made, the baby controls the flow. Especially good for babies that like a faster flow. However, because they can control the flow themselves, it doesn't go too fast for a baby that likes a slower flow as well.
This cup is easily washed in the dishwasher. We just take it all apart and throw the smaller parts into a dishwasher basket used for nipples, etc.
The handles make it easy for babies to learn to use the cup themselves. My boys started using these cups at 9 months. They had no problem figuring out how to use it on their own. And when they really get it down, the handles are removable, so that they can learn to hold a cup on their own without the handles.
The amount of parts may seem kinda crazy, but it's actually a good thing. The more movable the parts are, the easier it is to get things aligned the way they are supposed to be. So while the nipple is facing the right direction, the handles can be moved to be in the right place as well. I've had other sippys that when you screwed on the top, things just didn't line up properly, making it difficult for the baby to use it. Not the case with Born Free. And the extra parts for the special valve is worth it because of the flow.
I also love that it has markings on the side, like a bottle, so you know how much liquid is inside. That isn't the case for all sippy cups. And these markings aren't painted on. Instead they are an indention into the cup, so they're not able to be rubbed off over time.
Another good thing is that they are not only BPA free, but also Phthalate free as well, so you aren't pumping harmful environmental toxins into your kids. Always a plus.

The bad: After a while, the sippy spout gets worn in a bit, making it easier for the baby to use, but it also makes the sippy more prone to drips out of the spout. It comes with a lid though, so if you're traveling and worried about spills, just put the lid on and all is well. But if you're at home and your little one likes to turn his cup upside down and shake it...you may have a small mess to clean up. It isn't anything huge, just drips, but it isn't completely spill-proof forever.
And again, the amount of parts may seem crazy, but once you get the hang of it, it's really not a big deal.
Small cons, really, compared to its many benefits.
