This was a good idea, but the fishing pole is quite small. The line is very short so you pretty much just stand over the fish to "catch" them. The pole can't be cast like a regular pole. The magnets do work quite well, though. My 5 year old puts the fish in the bathtub and "fishes" for them and the magnets still work good in the water.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Even though this product wad made for ages 5 and up, it certainly was a hit with my 3 year old grandson! Very well made and he played with it most of the afternoon!

My grandson will use his fishing pole gift when we visit our local park and fishing dock. He has been crab fishing with family members and enjoyed the experience. He will be able to use the fishing pole when we return to the park (anytime of the year) and he won't need a fishing license.
