We bought 6 of these cars to go with one of the launchers for christmas. While it sounds like a great idea the cars do not always open when shot. We returned it.

My son just got into these ball cars. I purchased two through a Buy 1 get 1 Free deal but was not able to select the color(s)...ok, no problem. So when I got the package a day before Christmas Eve I found 2 identical ball cars! My son was confused as to why Santa gave him 2 of the same car (as was I) and wants to return it to Santa's warehouse (AKA, Toys R Us). How am I supposed to explain that one!? Stupid that they would ship me a free car that is identical!

My son (4) received the Batman Ballistik over Thanksgiving from his grandparents; he desperately wanted one. It broke within an hour of opening the package. I exchanged it for a different model, which he still has. It pops open about half the time, but he still loves it. The real shame is that the concept of this toy is great. If Mattel can work out the kinks, this could be a really great toy.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
