Description

With more than 12 points of articulation, these action figures are the most highly detailed and articulated Turtle figures ever made! Each turtle figure is uniquely sculpted, with heights ranging from 4.25 inches to 5.25 inches, to capture the individual personalities of the characters from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV show. Each Turtle is wearing his signature bandana and comes packed with their two core Ninja weapons and added weapons rack for hours of Ninja playing excitement.

Creepy, controlling and vicious, the Kraang are extra-dimensional, multi-tentacle, brain-like conquerors set on colonizing earth! To do so, they've come armed with powerful Kraang-droid exo skeletons, that (in some modes) appear human, but TURTLES BEWARE! Inside, rests a sickly, gross evil too frightening to ?face?!

Comments about Playmates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Basic Figure - Kraang:

From the hot new toyline that's sweeping the nation is the enemy Kraang. He's not to be confused by the evil burbling, disembodied brain from Dimension X also named Krang from the original cartoon and toy series from 1988. Although this figure is a mere foot soldier compared to that toy line he's nevertheless essential to the new toyline. Each Kraang is an enemy to the turtles and with no defined leader as of yet makes for a great army bulider piece. That is pretty much it for this guy. The Kraang isnt so much on par with today's ultra articulated variety that Hasbro puts out with their Transformers, G.I. Joe, or Star Wars brands, nor does he share the same with the other four turtles bt he's still a fun evil army solider for kids to play with.

Kraang stands about 5 inches tall and features the standard five points of articulation. Each figure has hinge joints at the hips, ball jointed shoulders, and a ball jointed head. That's it for articulation. The sculpt is pretty impressive to this reviewer as Playmates really captures the look from it's screen counterpart well. The robot head sports an emotionless face fitting for a race of beings that share no empathic relations to the world's they conquer the body is rounded out and a space is left open to house the brain itself so this could be considered a 2 n 1 toy as one could imagine the only way for our turtles to defeat the android is to separate it from it's brain. The brain looks to be made of rubber or at least a very soft plastic with rubbery limbs and a jagged expression that makes up it's mouth. It's very brain like with nice ridges and details one expects from a brain. The legs and arms are thin enough but seem to be built from sturdy plastics and will not seem to break easily unless one is too rough with their toys.

The limited aticulation does inhibit posing but standing at least for me seems to be no problem, plus given the limited motion the real Kraang has in the cartoon this shouldnt be that much of a bother to most collectors and fans. Paint is limited on this figure which is not surprising considering how some parts of even the other regular figures lack certain details. The paint that does exist is in the form of red eyes, purple Kraang insignias pink hoses that run up the legs, arms and neck of the robot and some nice silver weathering effects on the chest to keep the main focal points from being too dull.

The accessories are not as plentiful this time around and with a price tag of 8.99 or so that's gonna bother some. There's no weapons rack or any accessories beyond that of two blasters, but they at least look really neat. One looks like a traditional pistol blaster that to me looks very reminiscent to the blaster commonly seen in the original TMNT cartoon from 1987 and one that was packaged with one of the original figures Tragg only this time a sharp bayonet with jagged teeth has been added for extra flavor, the other is a weirdly designed weapon with no basis on any current weapon used today. I cant describe it myself it's the imagination from these designers that really bring this new toyline added umph and pizazz that distinguishes TMNT from the other strong competitors of other lines.

All in all this is a really decent offering if average compared to the other figures although it's not necessarily a demanded piece with limited paint, accessories, and lack of articulation may question those as to it's pricing compared to the other figures, Kraang is nevertheless a crucial facet to this new toyline and cartoon, plus add to that the lack of a crucial leader could be used in army building to create a whole army of Kraang for those pesky turtles.

Comments about Playmates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Basic Figure - Kraang:

My 4 year old does not seem to be that picky, but I was not overly impressed with the lack of posability of this toy. Leg move at the hip and arm at the shoulder, that's it. The guns also do not stay in the hands. Very poor quality. The turtles are much better quality.
