The HEXBUG® Scarab XL is an eerily mesmerizing, mechanical, beetle-like robotic bug that skitters around on six angled legs. The HEXBUG Scarab XL is 65 percent larger than the original HEXBUG Scarab, and is operated by a two-channel, user selectable radio-controlled remote with 7-way steering. The high energy robotic creature is capable of popping from its back to its feet if placed upside down.

Three AAA batteries are required in each HEXBUG Spider XL and one 9V battery is required in each remote.

My 6 year old daughter received this for Christmas. She LOVES it. It is one of her favorite gifts and it performs well. Speed variance is great, control it to go in any direction. While we haven't had any problems nor do we anticipate any, the legs do look a bit delicate. I probably wouldn't give it to a child under 6. Our 3 year old daughter is also mesmorized by it, but we do not let her operate it alone. Please note the required batteries though. The controller requires a 9 volt...I missed that, purchasing all AA and AAA, so we almost had a sad, but understanding, child Christmas morning. Luckily, I found a 9v hidden away. She couldn't be happier.
