Daughter got this for her 6th birthday. The instruction on the box says to apply wet applicator and see the color changes on barbie's nail, hair and makeup. We tried and it didn't work. The next morning I read all the reviews and tried warm water. It didn't work. Then I tried cold water, still did not work.

As an adult, I find it boring but my daughter likes it and plays with it. I think that's what matters since this is made for children not for adults. :)

As a last resort, I directly took an ice cube and rubbed it on the nails. They finally changed color.

The trick is, use hot water, not warm water to change the color back to normal. Use ice or water melted from ice to change to vibrant bright color.

We received this in June, and the room temperature is around 75.

It just didn't work! We tried the warm water, the ice cold water, everything. We even held ice cubes and let them melt on it and nothing changed at all. Fortunately, Toys R Us was great about letting us return it without any questions. It was worth buying it for my daughter because she had been BEGGING for it, but once she saw it wouldn't work, we were able to move on to plan B for her present.

Daughter disappointed in that we couldn't get anything to change color even submerging hands in ice water or extremely hot water. Plus useless applicator tips fall off inside containers making it oh so much fun to fish out with tweezers.

Complained to manufacturer and had it sent in. They state it does change color. Terrible product, and terrible, lying customer service at Just Play. No color changes unless maybe throwing it into an incinerator would count.

Great idea, just a woeful execution.

I do not usually write reviews unless a product is very good or very bad, and this one is very bad. First of all, Barbies hair looks like it was cut by my 4 year old. When we pulled it out of the package all of her hair was stuck together in hard clumps. When the hair is brushed to remove the clumps the hair just come out in large quantities. Second, the color changing does not work at all. There is no change to hair, nails, or lips when water is added no matter what the temperature. Take it from a four your old who said and I quote "I wish Santa wouldn't have brought that thing, it doesn't work" Just such poor quality, it is a shame!

Was so excited to have this as a christmas gift but the only thing you can do is style and brush her hair. Everything else it claims to do doesn't work. No make-up color changes , no nail color changes, no hair color changes. It is going back to the store.

This is nice for a 4/5 year old. There was only one hair clip but a few barrettes and the fact that the hair turns pink with water was a hit. The nails don't really seem to turn blue with cold water as the directions say but overall, a cute toy.

This toy doesn't work at all. We followed the instructions and dipped her nails in ice cold water and waited for the nails to turn brilliant blue...but nothing happened. The eye shadow and lipstick to not appear when you paint them with the ice water as well. My niece was quickly bored and this toy was a big waste of money.

So exited to get this for my daughter (I couldn't wait to play with it too). HUGE disappointment. I haven't read any reviews of this working for anyone. This item is very misleading and needs to go back to the "table". Thank goodness I bought this on black friday and didn't pay the ridiculous amount of money it originally goes for. Luckily my daughter doesn't know it should be changing colors, she's just having fun pretending to paint her nails and brush her hair.

My granddaughter was very unhappy that the lips/nails don't change color as it states !!! You can barely notice the difference .
